I got my first mCP X used from eBay and I will never buy another used heli again off eBay. Suffice it to say, I'm on the market for a new one and I want it to be new and as good as it can be. The mCP is backordered at Horizon but is it worth waiting in case the new batch Horizon gets has some quietly tweaked or fixed components?
If that's not important, where else should I be looking to buy? thanks a lot. |

I agree.
There is a Hobby Town in Ashland: http://www.htuashland.com/ see if you can find a more local store that sells both heli and parts for it. good luck

Here's some pictures I took of the damage right after opening it.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/5002894...426061/detail/ It definitely seems like it's been crashed in the grass a few times. I'm mainly flying it inside so I want it to be pretty spotless. I flew her a few times, bobbed up and down randomly about an inch (checked main gear was flush against the frame). My last flight I nicked the tail against my couch and now the tail motor won't respond. Original auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/280839661912...#ht_500wt_1361 |

So you want to buy an entire new heli because the main gear and blades are dirty and you had to pop the anti-vibration rod back into it's guide??
You seriously have like $30 worth of things that would need to be replaced to get it back to being like new. $13 for a tail boom shipped from Ebay new in it's package (keep in mind the motor stopped working after you crashed it into your couch, so that can't be considered a problem from when you got the heli) $5 for a new main gear from Ebay new and in it's package. $10 for a new set of blades from Ebay new in their package. That's a total of $28. And keep in mind, those blades and that gear are still working just fine...and you broke the motor yourself. So realistically, you have $13 to get the heli back in shape for flying...maybe even less if you just extended the boom and got a new tail motor.

A good rule of thumb when you buy used is to expect to have to put a few things into it.
Same thing with every motorcycle I ever bought used. It's worse than with helicopters. At least us guys that work on these things are somewhat technical. The people flying around on their motorcycles dirve them like cars and never do the maintenance. They leave bolts falling out and tires bald and don't maintain the chain etc etc. It's like a helicopter. If you lose one blade you're going down. Same on a bike. You lose one of two wheels and you are in trouble. Preventative maintenance and more frequent parts replacement is required over other vehicles with four wheels or fixed wings that glide. Swap a few parts and forget it. Main gears are supposed to be dirty. If I see a white one I know you aren't flying. Check the spindle and go. Make sure the blades are balanced to the rotor head too. Also, those blades will last you much longer. Clean them up with some alcohol. +1 buy goods from your home country as much as possible.

If everything functions 3in1 wise I'd just fix it. In a few days of practice it'll probably look like that anyway. Amp |
