Hi i have a blade 450x flies great, well it did until the other day.The rotors hit the tail boom in crash.Boom wasted some cosmetic damage to rotor blades how much damage is too much.I am new to 3d but an OK pilot.I use a dx6i now , it is a lot to grasp at first.not sure how to throttle up. should there be down force on throttle up ?am i in 3d mode? is it always in 3d? what about the throttle curve, pitch curve, have them set 3? but hold wont set to 3 its suck on h .it id set right just the h wont change.lots of questions need help!!! but wow let me tell you what, the heli flue about 6 flights.it was so stable got to confident and throttled down to fast and now we rebuild help please

Even if they "look" good you will probably want to replace them. The problem is that there may be hidden damage, or weakness within the blade itself, and if you have ever seen a blade "let go" during flight, it isn't pretty. When one blade let's go, the rotor becomes unbalanced, and the helicopter rips itself apart... and the damage will most certainly cost more than a new set of blades now. From a safety standpoint, is your peace of mind worth the <$20 for a new set of blades? If you are unsure about setting up your pitch & throttle curves, check out Finless Bob's "Pitch and Throttle Curve 101" video... it should answer any and all of your questions. I personally don't have a "normal" curve set. All of my pitch curves are basically set -100 to 100. I do have the first point in the normal throttle curve set to zero so that I can arm the ESC, but I usually spool up in IU1 with the collective stick set at a little less than mid position. This ensures that there will be a little down force when I turn off TH and spool up. Another thing to be aware of with FBL (in case you are unaware as this is your first FBL) you don't want to touch the cyclic stick while spooling up. This usually results in a tip-over and damage to your heli. If you touch the cyclic, the FBL controller will tilt the swash, but because the heli is on the ground, the heli doesn't move. The FBL controller (which expected to sense movement) will then keep tilting the swash further, and once the RPM's reach lift off speed, the heli tips over. BTW When you say you throttled down too fast, were you in the air at the time? Were you in normal mode? PS CP simply means that the blade angles change in unison to create lift... while 3D generally refers to advanced maneuvers such as piro-flips, chaos, snakes, etc. not simple loops & rolls. Congrats on the new heli... now get it fixed up and flyin' again!

thanks for the tips and yes i was in the air when i throttled down to fast.not sure if i am in norm mode or stunt mode and i do spool up with thro hold wasn't sure if that was right. is there negative pitch in norm mode? i will get new blades also.

IU1 & IU2 curves are usually set with full pitch ranges such as throttle curve: 80 - 80 - 80 - 80 - 80 or 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 - 100 This provides a simple flat throttle curve or... throttle curve: 100 - 90 - 80 - 90 - 100 This provides more power as the angle of the blades increases... pitch curves: 0 - INH - 50 - INH - 100 or 20 - INH - 50 - INH - 80 The amount of +ve and -ve pitch available is usually the same (balanced on both sides of 0 degrees) in IU modes ie -10deg to +10deg or -8deg to +8deg It sounds as though you are in the early stages of learning... luckily Helifreak is a huge source of information. It won't take you long to learn all you need to know.
