Found the cause...
Finally got my boom replacement, so I started my tear-down today.
Not pilot error - pitt crew error (same guy though) Pinion was loose on the motor shaft and one of the two grub screws was missing, other almost out... no indication of any thread locker anywhere  Oh well... just about ready to get back up... not quite sure what to do about the canopy or how to patch it while I wait for a replacement. I'm thinking tape and epoxy?
