What do you guys think would be the best FBL unit to get for a new mini.
I will be going 6S straight up and will go stretch once I go through a few standard booms and rotor blades. I will be using a DX8 transmistter. I know there are others but these are the ones I can from my supplier |

Vbar best unit out there that I have tried.
I have tried beastx, skookum, 3G and 3gx and also vbar. The vbar just works, is easy to setup and the default settings work perfectly well. I have found the others need some tweaking to get right. Mikado have excellent back up service, strong support and have a big extensive knowledge base. One of the great features it has is the logging and vibration analysis. It has helped me solve problems on a few helis now and helped me reduce vibes to get the best out of the Vbar I could.

I vote beastx or ar7200 bx. The ar7200bx will save you the cost of a satellite and a sat adapter cable requried for the beastx. The down side to the ar7200bx at the moment is there is no microsettings for it as the beastx microsetting software wont work because the ar7200bx uses a different firm ware. The microsetting software gives you computer adjustment of a lot of parameters just like the v-bar. Beastx updates are free unlike the other mentioned here and the beastx tail is phenominal now and with the micrsettings you can dial it in super dead on but that is usualy not required. microsettings for the ar7200bx will come but no one knows when yet. I would have a hard time getting the msh brain until it has been out and in use for a while. I just don't care to be a beata tester and in reality we really don't know anything about it. I sure would not "wait" for it personaly.. History shows this stuff is never released on schedule HA!
I voted ar7200bx as you do not have the beastx listed! |

I have a Beastx on my Mini Protos and a Copterx 3X1000 on my Protos - both work very well indeed. The Beastx has less adjustments, the 3X1000 can be set up using teh Tx, a Pc or a programming box (and costs $30 !!!)

My MiniP has a ZYX unit on it(still waiting on batteries so haven't flown it) and my Protos 500 has a BeastX . Haven't decided what I'm going to put the Brain on when it comes in.

Thanks everyone for your votes.
Interesting that no one thought the 300X with AR7200BX was a good idea, it's a whole heli for $90, but I guess I don't need another heli to spend money on. The AR7200BX would probably do the job and would be a simple and tidy setup, but the lack of micro settings right now is a slight concern, also could not see how the logs work anywhere(quick look). So I am leaning towards the v-bar as it appears to be the best and has everything I would need for this heil and future heli's. Also I am building this protos as a no expense spared kinda deal, so it wins because it's most expensive, haha. |

Just saw that msh-direct still has 2 FBL MSH Brains up for pre-order at 189$.
For that price, that's pretty much the best deal available! I like it's self leveling feature like the SK720..
