Hi Guys.
I wanted to start a thread for our team and MA to closely follow and help answer any questions you may have on the new nitro kit. Let's see those pics and ask away!

Just some questions before the kit arrives. What size and dimension servo horns are recomended? Does the kit ship with a couple of extra ball links? I always break one!
Thanks. |

Servo horns - I settled on the MIkado 20mm arms. I think these are the best non-metal arms and they give perfect geometry on my machine with a vbar and 255HV's. The Heavy duty dubros work but the geometry is off on the elevator I found. The fat T-arms from futaba work, however, on the electrics a few guys have had these strip on the spine in flight. The plastic is pretty soft on these. I'd run the Mikado arms or metal arms at 20mm. Metal is too rough on the servo in a crash IMHO.
The Mikado arms are actually made by Graupner: http://www.graupner.de/en/products/4...2/product.aspx Links- yes there are a few extras. You will have to slightly size each link. This is common and normal for MA. They wear really well though.

Awsome, thanks.. Will 710's on the Whiplash head be similar to 690's on the Trex 700 head in relation to total diameter of the disc?

On the home stretch now. Picked up the kit and goodies Monday from Heliproz. Just need to attach the tail boom, linkages and finish setting up the AR7200BX. This build has been a lot of fun. Of course it helps when I can run in to MA with questions and talk to Chris and Brian, just 10 minutes down the road. A couple of minor issues with small bearings and the front frame doublers had a 3mm hole instead of the needed 4mm. Quickly resolved. I am impressed with the fact that everything just lines up and fits. Very easy build. This is not a kit, however, for beginners. For those interested, avionics and motor follows:
OS Max 105R with Hatori pipe, JR 8717 on the cyclics, JR 8900G on the rudder, DS610 on throttle, AR7200BX with satellite, Throttle Jockey with RevGlo for governor, Fromeco Sahara regulator with switch added for shut off, (see pic of frame front) and Fromeco 5200 mah battery. Running at 6 volts with dropping diode soldered into rudder servo lead. Maverikk 710 FBL blades and KBDD 104 tail, waiting on Maverikk 105 blades. BTW, used the Dubro Super servo horns, only two in set for cyclic but easy to grind a third from a longer horn. Hope to maiden tomorrow if the weather will cooperate. ![]()
