new yge 100lv shut down in flight and burned

So ran a yge 100lv on my x5, long story short I got a new yge 100lv bar

Today it shut down on my
Madien i was testing it just hovering, i did a pitch pumpand bam it shut off, i did a short auto.

I powered down and restarted the esc did rearm, I checked my pack volt, good 95% left.

So I tried again, sure enough as soon as I got it up and did a slight pitch pump it shut off, but this time it would not turn back on and.smells burnt.

This is on my x5, perfect flyer , had my hobby wing 100 on it and zero issues.

Really all I did was install the esc into a working heli.

Well I guess I'm done guys,

I emailed and still waiting for yge to respond to even say yes or no if it still has a warranty.

It was fun when I did have it working.

How old was your YGE when it died on you?

well thats a long story

i first bought one 9/2011, and then sent it in because it was malfuncting

so i sent it in , i asked first i was told it had to go to yge . i also asked for the vbar upgrade,

sent off in december of 2011

then january of 2012 came around and i finally heard from yge,

i sent in the original reciept, i wrtoe down the problems, and wrote down i wanted the upgrade, it was sent back without the upgrade, and i was refunded the repair charge, but yge said it was ok?

so in the end pete from elcktro rc where i bought it switched out that esc for a new yge vbar version, same 100lv.

march 5th 2012 is when i got the new yge 100lv vbar.

so if i make a big guess and go back to the original date of purchaes of 9/2012
then my 6 month warranty is up??

but 3 months or so of that warranty was "in transit" to yge and back here?

like i said i think im done, but thats just my guess, since i have no response from yge yet,,

Hmmm, to me it seems the 3 months in transit are not your problem.
What could you do about that? Nothing.
They should help you out in my opinion.

But do I understand correctly, the YGE 100LV vbar you received on march 5th 2012 is also faulty?

Yes the very first one ran good a little while but then the gov.store malfunctioned, and reset itself to factory default. I have eagle tree logs sent in to back up that claim. That first one did not burn up.

The new one I got because of the mix up and super long.shipping was the yge100lv bar
That is the one that burned up.

Hell now that I think of it , I would even go as far as paying for repair, may bee if I ever get a reply email from henyo I will.ask if he is willing to do that, but I want to know the cause

Yge only has 6 months warrantee? Then I'd much rather buy the jive with its 2 year warrantee! With the shelf life of esc's these days warrantee is more important than ever.

I think manufacturers like yge will have to come to the party with better warrantee especially with some of the new cheap esc's nowadays working as well as the very expensive ones. Me and my friend s have been testing a couple with and without vbar gov on monster handwinds and not to get into too many details here I can only say the top guys have reason for concern and if they believe in their product have to give us something to believe in as far warrantee concerned

That's not very helpful indeed.
And also not valid inside the EU!
We have a minimum period of 2 years for everything we buy inside the EU.

YGE should definitely change their warranty rules, they are now against law!

i think they have to abide by the laws in the country of the distributor

which here in the usa is elcktro rc

if they extend there warranty and open up a few more vendors then i might think about yge again

till then vbar+hobbywing =best gov on the market

Agree 6 months is rubbish for warranty as YGE is priced as a premium ESC. I am still a fan of YGE as they might "burn" but no "fires" as of yet. Try running a Jive/HeliJive with some of the beast motors and VBar Gov, 4525,4530 and you will see not a lot of good choices besides YGE 160

Where did you buy it from? I've never had a problem with my 100a lv esc well over 150 flights.

About 600 flights on 160HV. I think a lot of failures of all ESC's are motor related..?

Over 600 ++ flights on mine. No problems. Also we have 2 year warranty in Europe and why shouldn't you have that in another country. Must be your store limiting the warranty.

and thats a 6 month warranty thru yge directly, not the place that sells it. so 30$ shipping

and months transit time. thats what it took for me to get it to yge and then back



ive heard every thing about whats the cause, but the fact is it ran on the bench

it spooled up and only burned up when i ask it for high power. i was told it was a faulty

fet in the esc on the input side.


so i put the yge in and the esc burns up, but the hobbywing 100 works fine on my xera

4020motor before and after this happened.

i setup and ran a yge 100lv on the exact same heli and motor just before i got this one

cant anyone just accept sometimes a esc does fail? just because its a yge its "perfect"

i did have a high regard for yge and the esc from my other experience and what i hear

and read, but not after this

Yup, they do.... YGE 120HV on the maiden flight w the canopy off....



When the above happened, the ESC still functioned (which I find amazing), at a lower RPM. I guess I just got a bad FET (it happens).....

But I trust the replacement 100%. Its been flawless, and the support that I got for mine was fantastic. $30 for a repair honestly isn't that bad, esp when compared with the other manufacturers.

And I am glad it didn't do this...
