700MX and ICE2 120 HV - stretching to 800

Would the 700MX (470 kV) and the ICE2 120 HV be enough when stretching to 800?
Planning on using Edge 813 and carrying some extra weight (4kg).

Other option is Kontronik HeliJive and Pyro 700-45. (or 5020-450?)

I'm not very experienced, but I wouldn't think your motor of choice is powerful enough for what you are trying to achieve.

The blades might be a bit on the heavy and long side. Depending on what your tail blade length is??

Standard Align 105 blades.
Main rpm will be around 1300-1400, no 3D flying.

I don't see why not. Probably just need a small pinion to get into the efficient power band at such low rpm.

Sorry if I've misinterpretted this, but when you say 'extra weight' do you mean an additional 4kg on top of full normal flight weight?

If so, as K2Freak has mentioned you should be ok, unless attempting 3D flight......

The motor should be ok but I think you will have a hard time finding a pinion to get you down to the headspeed you are after. The smallest I have seen for a slant gear is 11t, which will put you around 1700 rpm. To get to down to 1400 you are going to need something under 400kv. From what I have seen most people going 800 are running the align blades and edge 115. I am building a 800 and using that blade combo, I have the align 700mx 470kv motor but switched it out for a scorpion 450kv. I'm looking for around 1650-1750 headspeed. Talk to Dave M. at anythingheli.com, he will get you where you want to be.

I agree. I checked the HC Calc on RH and +/- 1700 is on the lower side.

Might have to play with different gears altogether. Are there any of the 0.7M that would give you the ratio you want? If it's an AV ship or similar, stripping should not present a problem.

Looking at the available 0.7M gears on the headspeed calc, a 170 tooth main and a 13T pinion would put your 470 right where you want it.

Yes the 4 kg will be extra weight, so the total weight will be something like 9-10 kg.

I had been looking at the 700N or 600 main gear (164/170). That would be better at a 13t pinion, but I'm a little concerned about stripping.

Especially with the Edge 813 blades (they're heavy).

I think that motor would work but you would be better off with a lower kv motor with more grunt like a 5020-450kv. That motor is awesome for lower hs and would turn those cinderblocks with ease.

Can the Edge 813 blades be used with 115mm tail rotor blades on the Align 800 boom without fear of the blades hitting each other? I currently am using the Align 800 blades, but would like to try the Edge 813s. I am running Edge 115s on the tail.

I've been flying a stretched trex 800 setup...

I'm using the Scorpion 5025/450kv with the vbar gov set to 1850

it's a MONSTER...especially for 3D flying..

I was running 110 mm mains with the edge 813's but it was too much blade and not enough tail...so I went to align 800's and Edgee 115's

the tail would just "Run out" of power during hard piro moves like piro funnels and piro tic tocs...I had to go to the Align 800's and Edge 115's because the 813's will hit with the edge 115's

the scorpion 5020 is too small...I would recommend a bigger motor like the 5025 or 5035

I just posted a video of my 800 in action...just in case you want to see how it flies..

I'm running 700MX 470 on mine with 11T. If I remember right I'm around 1700HS 90%.

I do enjoy the punch outs and how effortlessly it pulls.

So you can run 105's more easily!

When I stretched my 700e F3C with the boom kit, I originally ran the RJX 810 blades with the Edge 115 tail blades. No problems. It just occured to me that the reason I am having an issue now is that when I converted it to FBL last month, the head was lowered and it brings the blades quite a bit closer together. So, this is now a NO GO for me. I guess I will save the RJX 810s as a spare set to use on the Megavolt 800.
