I didnt bother, I superglued the tail on, and that has stayed put. In my experience with this stuff, as soon as you work it, it just splits and seperates. If you cut the flat, the whole rod splits along from the flat, so it dosn't seem worth it. The boom is so strong and robust it has never needed any attention yet so glueing it hasn't been an issue.
