8 blinks while running

was doing a vibration test with my vbar, after changing a pulley,
Plugged in my esc and started the heli up,

spooled up in normal, pulled the stick down, started blinking and eventually stopped (very slow after i had the stick down)
and i got 8 blinks,

Restarted the esc spooled up and spooled down i got 8 blinks
I then realized i had 12 cells and had forgotten to unplug (only tail blades are on,)

would i have been getting overcurrent blinks just because there is no load running at 12 cells?
