Hey guys, I am stumped. I am having some weird issues with my FBL 450pro. This post would be long and complicated if I were to try and explain it all right here, so I will only post my initial question first.
No matter how my transmitter is set up, my receiver is sending a 0% throttle signal at initialization. I plugged in a servo into the throttle channel to troubleshoot the larger problem and noticed this. I place my TX throttle stick to 100% and plug in the heli and the servo will go down to what would equal 0% throttle. If I turn throttle hold on and off then the throttle (or servo in this case) will represent the actual throttle stick location at 100%. Is this a safety feature? It does not seem correct and does not allow you to enter the ESC programming mode, and made setting the fixed throttle endpoints a bitch. Anyway, thanks for your help, and I can't wait to see what you guys think of my bigger problem. Here is the info for my FBL 450pro: Spektrum AR7200BX receiver/beastx Phoenix ICE Lite 50 esc Hyperion HS2221-3595 motor w/ 13 tooth pinion (All new electronics for my FBL conversion from flybarred) Transmitter Info: Spektrum DX6i DSM2 Using Normal mode for testing with 0 to 100% throttle curve. Travel adjust is setup correctly for fixed endpoint mode in CC ESC, again just for testing. |

I don't think it is as easy as that. Once I turn throttle hold on or off, everything functions how it should. This only happens when I first turn on the receiver.

Re-bind your receiver and make sure the left stick is all the way down...tried that?

Any other thoughts out there guys? I know this is a popular setup, can someone confirm that theirs initializes differently? Can you get into the ESC setup menu (TX style) by pushing throttle to 100% and then turning the heli on with a Spektrum AR7200BX and an Ice Lite 50?

You should be able to use a different channel for programming the ESC and get that out of the way...

Thanks nflanagin, I was able to get the fixed throttle endpoints sets by unplugging the ESC from the throttle channel, plugging in the heli to initialize the AR7200BX, flipping throttle hold on and off, and then re-plugging in the ESC to the throttle channel. That sequence allowed me to adjust the endpoints correctly.

Okay, so maybe my problem stems from the SmartSafe Failsafe feature of the AR7200BX receiver/beastx. In the manual it states: "SmartSafe sets the throttle to the position it was in during the binding process (normally low throttle or idle).", but is this feature activated during initial power up of the heli? I don't think it is... but maybe.
It would be kind of strange because that low throttle signal is what activates almost all ESC's not to mention that most ESC's already have similar safety features to prevent unwanted startup. This info is on page 20 of my AR7200BX manual. |
