Default Update and questions!!

Greetings fellow TDR freaks!! weekend gone I passed the 100 flights mark with my TDR and have Flown the machine for exactly 10:02:06 hours!! I have gone thru two tail fins and tail blades due to clumsy autos. Apart from that the heli is like new!! I am still as "over the moon" about it as I was after the first few packs, I completely love it!! I have on the other hand started to increase the pressure on the machine, flying wise and have noticed the the Pyro is landing quite a bit warmer now (60-70 Celsius). I checked my VBar log yesterday and although nothing serious, I have two spikes at around 18k and 21k rpm. I am guessing that the bearings in the pyro are maybe starting to complain, any thoughts? I have not checked the bearings in the tail blade holders after the bad autos but have not had any visible problems after them so haven't bothered but I will soon as a little more involved all round service is due. I grease the gears and do smaller checks all the time any how. I have ordered some 6x15x5 and 6x13x5 ceramic bearings for the Pyro in case a change is due right away.
The best of weather to you all!!

20K RPM definitely sounds like the motor, the tail would be more around 10K for 2K on the head. I would change the motor bearings. Just be careful to not crush the windings when you do it. This video for Scorpion motors may be helpful:

Hi mate, not a good idea using the ceramic bearings, as they are not designed for side loads. They are designed for radial loads only, hence why they are used for turbines.

I remember reading about the pressure put on our pinions, especially when using slanted gears. I think it was a test done by KDE when they were developing their electric conversion of the T-Rex 700N, and they found the side load pressure was very high (can't remember the figure, but hundreds of pounds)

On a 700 sized heli, with regular straight gear, with standard motors such as 4035 at full power it's about the weight of an adult male standing on the shaft. I remember that because it was a very clear image!!!

Greets Guys and thanks for your input!! I checked the motor bearings and they are fine so I left them in place. I also checked the tail blade holder bearings and they are as new!! I suspect my gear mesh has been a tad too tight due to rising ambient temps so I have backed it off a hair and will see! I must also admit that I have been of late pushing the heli a bit harder than ever before which is probably the main cause of the rising motor temps! I can keep my fingers on the pyro after a flight albeit quite warm but I cant hold my fingers on my buddy's 700MX for more than 10-15 secs so I am ok I think. I guess i will save the ceramic bearings for something else!! I thought I read somewhere about such bearings in a pyro but I am probably misstaken or mixing up facts!!

From what I heard they are hybrids.
Ceramic balls and steel races. But that might be a rumor too.

The bearings I bought are actually Ceramic hybrids with ceramic balls and steel cages!

I used ceramics in my Pyro for about 50 flights with no probs, KT took them out when I sent the motor back for crash damage service
