Default DX8 & Blade 450X settings import problem

OK, I've had the DX8 for quite awhile, and have it bound to a few helis. I just picked up a Blade 450X and found the link on HorizonHobby's webpage with a link to the DX7 and DX8 setups (in one zip file). I unzipped the file, copied it to the included SD card that came with the DX8 and inserted into the TX. I actually did this procedure when I copied settings for the MCPX. Anyways, when I select an open model, and try to "Import Model", I select the DX8_450X__.spm file and it gives me an error that says:

915: 'GPSstatus' Device not f

(I'm assuming it tried to display "not found" but it ran out of room on the screen).

Anyways, it won't let me import the file. I searched around and don't seem to find anyone else having this problem, so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong.

Probably best thing to do is login to your community account an on your DX8 area where the button to get updates is and to the left of it is a button to "Report an issue"..Send a message there is probably the fastest way to get it fixed.

If you can attach the SPM file I can probably fix it for you.

Well, they're straight from HH. Here's the link to the PDF file which in turn has the link to download the DX7 and DX8 spm files (in one archived file).

http://www.horizonhobby.com/pdf/BLH4...x7s_setups.pdf

I read of people having issues with the SD card, and didn't have a second one to try (just in case my SD card was corrupting the data somehow). I just went ahead and input all the info in manually from the B450X manual, and after a quick test hover, all seems well.

I'm just a little worried since I haven't seen anyone complain about the issue, and I can't be the only one that tried importing the B450X model into the DX8 using the SPM file provided by HH.

I couldnt get the link to that file to work.
Since you got it working not an issue I guess. There are alot of possible variables that could cause an SPM file to not load. The radio has protections from loading a corrupt or incompatible file.
I wouldnt worry about it.The radio did its job and didnt let it load.
Personally Im not big fan of preset model files. It seems some have the notion that these files can be used as a substitute for actually programming your radio. While that is possible its very important to go through all the menus anyway to confirm that the file is what you want and the switch locations and everything else is what you expect.Otherwise your likely to get a big surprise inflight.
If your capable of properly checking a file is suited to what you want I kind of think you might as well just program it yourself. Then your absolutely sure what you have.
I wouldnt use a preprogrammed file to fly with. They may be good as a reference to look through and get ideas when your not sure of where to start but IMO simply loading one and using it has the potential for some big problems.

I am getting this exact same error! What is wrong?

I just want this file to "start from" and will most likely tweak it a bit...

I honestly couldnt find the specific file you guys are talking about. The link to the eflite site I ended up at didnt work.Could you repost a link to where you got the file?Or attach it here?

Also,DX7s and DX8 files are not interchangable/compatible.Im not quite understanding if the file is supposed to be generic for both.

If I have the file and can look at it I can probably fix it for you or figure out why its not working for you.

Ok I had to manually chase the link down but I got the files.

The one for the DX7s does actually work.
The one for the DX8 needed some modification.
Try this one.
Just remember you have to unzip it and then copy the actual .SPM file to your card.

Hi Guys,

This was just brought to my attention and is being addressed. The problem was that the file was created on an older DX8 with special firmware. Shouldn't be too long before the file is updated.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks,
M
