Al Riopel Memorial Fun Fly (June 2nd at NNPRCC field)

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and fellow heli pilot, Al Riopel. He will be missed greatly.

Al did not want at traditional memorial service. Instead his wish was to say "thank you" to all who have helped alleviate his burdens at the onset of his illness and for the years of RC enjoyment and mentoring opportunities. He just wants people to enjoy life...and flying!

The Newport News Park Radio Control Club will host the Al Riopel Memorial Fun Fly on June 2nd at the NNPRCC flying field. We would like to invite all our local area fixed wing and helicopter pilots to come out, have fun, and remember Al.

Flying is open from 8:00am to dusk. AMA membership required to fly at the facility. We will have some fun contests throughout the day for pilots of all skill levels and all types of flying machines.

We will have a cookout for lunch. If you wish, please feel free to bring a dish or desert to share.
