well i flew it till the battery died today, hard landing, i guess its what you call a splat landing. came down level but the landing gear bent out to the sides so far that the prop hit the ground and split the wood on the fire wall so i need to try and epoxy it again..

this plane does not glide for crap.. that is my only issue with it..

Practice gliding with power off. So you learn how it reacts, cg might be too far forward too as just about any plane can hang with full up elevator

i was flying it as slow as it goes before it stalls, i was circling in to land, so i was flying it slow out past the edge of the run way where there is some weeds growing that are about 4 foot high. the power died as soon as i started to make the turn to come in. it started loosing altitude quick. so i gave it full elevator, it was coming down level and than it disappeared behind those 4 foot high weeds at the edge of the run way.

it appeared that it just plopped down really hard and landed on the wheels, but the wire landing gear bent out so much the plane was almost setting on its belly and the prop had dug into the freshly tilled dirt

i pulled it appart last night and the epoxy job from the last crash did not appear to hold well, there are allot of cracks in the balsa and the motor mount fire wall is pretty much destroyed,
i am not sure if its fixable, it did not look that bad till i cut the foam away in the front and the fire wall and motor was loose in there and it pulled right out, allong with some other parts of really thin balsa that were still attached the mount. i think a few chunks of wood were missing too, allot of the cracks that were on the really think pieces of balas broke back off, i guess epoxy cant hold the wood that is only like one mm thick well.

i think if i fix it again its not going to be strong enough. i got carried away practicing those blenders ( pretty sure what is what they were, super fast knive edge spin and ignored my timer.. the funny thing is even thought i went down to 3.1V per cell the plane still had peltny of power, usually i fly for 5 min. but i flew for 7.5 min and well there she went...

A blender is where you dive straight down in an aileron roll with a snap to a flat spin.

Full power blenders that snap a few feet off the deck = huge pucker factor.

what i was doing was going streight up. and than going to a nose dive. move the cyclic stick to the top center, and move the throttle stick all the way to the left, and than give it full power.. and it goes knive edge and spins knife edge super fast.

not sure what that is called. i guess a knive edge spin

these thigns here but at full power and spinning allot faster than this one is..

well i decided to get the 48 inch edge 540, i wont make the same mistakes i made with the last one again

now i understand that a plane stalls and when it may stall so i don't think stalling will cause a crash again.

and i know not to fly past my timer cus when that ESC decides to hit LVC cut off you better hope you were moving fast enough to maintain some speed to get the plane back to the landing strip..

so hopefully i wont have any stupid crashes with this one... if i happen to bust this one up quickly i don't think i will stick with planes lol

Danny, Sorry to see your crash but I think you're doing great being new to airplanes. The crash damage is worse than what I would have expected and glad to see you ordered a new 3DHS airframe. Nice plane...!

thanks,

i bought that for my first plane cus its kind of big and i thought it would be durable, and it was extremely durable except for the wood parts, too bad they did not find a way to make the whole thing tough..

nice flying, i have gotten pretty good at landing as of so far. that was my biggest fear with a plane, but i did not seem to have to much trouble learning to land.

Danny, just saw your post. Yes your EPP is repairable with very little effort. I broke the firewall out of my EPP Yak, Took a little time and finese to remove the broken parts but not too bad, Less trouble and time than my blade 400. If they are available order a new firewall, better yet order a couple, Once you receive it make a template and you can cut new ones yourself. The foamrepairs nicely with welders. Can't even tell mine was ever crashed. The things are extremely durable.
I went the other way and had a 47" edge 1st and pulled instead of pushed 4 ft from ground inverted. Destroyed the nose, fuselage behide the canopy and the wing tube inside both wings. The EPP would have only been the firewall.
Good luck.
