Anyone running 6S prefer 520's?

Seems like the majority are running 550's nowadays, with Edge or Maverikk being the blade of choice. Anyone flying hard sport/3d still prefer 520's or are the latest 550's just a better bet all round?

I'm still running original 520's on my V1. I want to try the 550 some time in the future just to see.

I would probably still be running the stock 520 blades if I hadn't got the edge 553 blemish blades on reward points at ready heli cyber Monday sale. I would like to get a set of edge 523 blades and try some back to back comparison flights to see if or how different they fly. Don't think it would be a completely fair test if I used the align 520s, not saying they're junk but different brands fly different.

I'm back to the flybarred 520mm blades after a crash. Hadn't flown them since last September. Between then and now I've flown Align 550, Mavrikk 550, and Rotortech 550 all flybarred. I might try what another friend did at the field and mount a set of Mavrikk 515 blades.
From this I've found:
Align 520 - quick roll, but stops aren't hard.
Align 550 - Shorter flight than 520, stops still not hard
Mavrikk 550 - Same flight time as Align 550. Good hard stops.
Rotortech 550 - Same characteristics as Mavrikk but heavier. Shortened flight. Great autos. Little slower on cyclic roll.
At this point I'm interested in trying Mavrikk 515, Edge 523, and I'd go back to Mavrikk 550 without question or hesitation.
Also if I mount 550 mains I switch to 85mm tail blades. The Mavrikk blades never touched my 90mm tail blades. The Align 550 blades under crack cyclic movements touched my 90mm tail blades.

. This was while running the hardest Align dampeners.

Great review. Would have been even better had you ran the edge blades considering that is the blade of choice for a lot of people. None the less, thank you very much.

Sounds like there is not a particular preference either way then? 520's roll faster, 550's stop faster and have more pop?

I prefer 520s on my FBL and FB version. But the best I had was Edge 523s.

520 / 523 is what I run on my 550E. You can't run 550 on DFC head from what I know.

I put 6 flights in today on the Align 520 blades. I prefer pop and snap, especially how 550 blades perform in forward flight. Some Edge 523s might be the ticket.

The Edge 523's are nice, not a huge difference form the Aligns but you can notice the difference. I've still not tried 550 blades yet.

There are some videos online of KDE running the Edge 553mm blades with the 92mm tail blades. Seems to be a great combo.
