Default TREX500 Futaba S9254...

Hi guys.

I just upgraded my tail servo from DS520 to the Futaba S9254 and i left the ball link to
the same 10mm distance.
But now i upped my tail gain from 42 to 66 and still no tail wag.

I was wondering if now i have too much digital gain and too low mechanical gain.
Should i put the ball link further out in the servo arm or its ok with 10mm?

42 sounds waaaay low a setting you had before but as long as your tail is holding perfectly even during hard pitch i wouldn't do anything. Problem you might end up with going out too far is the tail bouncing when it over compensates. Try going up higher on your gain. I think a sweet spot is usually between 65 to 80 on most 500's.

i forgot to say and clarify...futaba and spectrum are different...

With Spectrum 0 to 50 is rate mode and 50 to 100 is head holding mode. So if you had a Spectrum and had it set at 46 you had a very low setting in rate mode. Closer to 0 gives more rate mode gain closer to 50 gives you less gain. In head holding mode the closer to 50 the less head holding gain while being closer to 100 give you more gain. At 50% both modes are pretty much off.

I've never used a Futaba radio so i couldn't explain how it works.

Use what works. Don't be too concerned with the number. That servo is a big step up on the 500. I run a 9256 and love it.
