Exclamation RD6000 HELP!!!!

Hey I have a airtronics RD6000 and a GY401 gyro. How do I set up heading hold and Rate mode? I know there isn't a free switch to assign this too but since there isn't that what do you guys use? I want to run in heading hold mode mostly for now while I get comfortable with the heli.

Default RD6000 HELP!!!!

Kyle
What receiver are you using ? If you have a 6 channel receiver then you would have the following: 1.) aeilron 2.) elevator 3.) throttle 4.) rudder 5.) gear (gain) 6.) pitch..This is if your radio is set up for heli aircraft. The 6000 is a little different in that the top right switch is for gyro gain switching ( HH & Normal ) and the top left switch is for light modes (Normal. 1 & 2 ) You will plug your gyro into rudder on the receiver and the gain plug (has one wire) into channel 5.
Adjust your gain settings in the gyro menu to 51 to 100 for heading hold and 1 to 49 for "Normal" Check your top switch and watch the numbers change.
I hope this is of some small help
Regards

The way my reciver is set up is right switch and left switch being switched towards me is normal flight mode. When I flip the right switch away from me it's flight mode one and then the left switch flipped away from me is flight mode two. Can I program these to be the way you say?

Default RD6000 Help

Kyle
First, I apologize. I have to many Airtronics radios (VG600,RD6000,RD8000,RDS8000,
SD10G). You are correct. The two top corner switches are for flight mode (Normal,1 and 2)
You will only be able to set the gyro menu for either "Normal" or "Heading Hold" gyro function.
As with this radio the Gear switch at the top left corner becomes a flight mode switch in the heli program. If I recall correctly in the gyro menu you can dial in positive and negative numbers +100 to 0 to -100. The positive numbers will put you into "Heading Hold"
and negative numbers will put into "Normal". The 401 has to initialized in "Heading Hold" when you turn on the receiver. So you have no other choice but to go with "Heading Hold".
I Suppose you could initialize in "Heading Hold" on power up. Then go to the gyro menu and adjust the numbers to a negative thus getting the gyro into "Normal".You may have to do this if you follow the standard practice of "mechanically" setting your tail rotor pitch to hold the heli in "Normal". Then once the tail rotor pitch is set to hold in "normal" then you
could reset the gyro menu numbers to a positive for the heading hold gain setting.
Sorry for the confusion.
Regards

Ah alright. No worries with the confusion I'm just starting so any answer is a step forward. I have the gain set to +50 right now so it will be in hh mode. Thanks for the help I had a hard time with understanding this.
