Default DIY RC Heli Electronics Add Ons

With the DIY "movement" going along pretty well especially with companies like Sparkfun supplying common parts for simple projects, I was curious out there if anyone else has made things to add on to their helis. I know of a few units that have come from the heli community specifically. The DALCON is one I can think of off the top of my head.

I would think scale guys would especially be into this for custom light controllers or on-board "scale parts" automation controlled by the Tx. Partially what I spent the earlier part of today programming and bug hunting.

Just got done doing a scale Hydra rocket system for a scale Zulu cobra 600 (Don't worry safety folks, this is only getting used on private or clearanced property ala those Byron Originals shows and the rockets are sans warheads just for show. I can be a pretty big safety nazi myself, hence all the safeties built into the system.) Just 4 tubes for now though for testing. I'll find ways to fool with it later. I could see this being neat on a scale MRLS vehicle too.

It's probably not going to get used much though with even the smallest Estes model motors being expensive in large numbers.

I'm thinking the next project to be a miniaturized light controller with articulated spot light for a buddy's police Bell heli build. Any thoughts?

Not that much going on in the photo. Just watching the output to make sure the PWM is sitting at the right values and debugging code. There's another board off to the right more that has the relays the microprocessor switches to send 7.4V to the rocket ignitors.

I had a club mate ask me about doing that for one of his warbirds. I'll have to take a second look at it once the RLS is all sorted.

What's the sort of thing folks would want to see on a heli? With spare time on my hands I've been more apt to go tinkering now.
