Congrats!!

I have mine about 95% ready to fly. This is my first FBL bird so I am a bit nervous about the first flight. I have been slow to finish the build because of this. I have checked and quadruple checked everything and am out of excuses for not taking her up. Monday is D-day for my Whiplash.. Hope she comes back in one piece.

Congrats! Many people have the same impression when they fly the whiplash. It is an amazingly agile Heli for its size and the presence in the air is breathtaking.

Default sorry to hear

Sorry to hear you had an unfortunate accident on your first day. I am extending my tail boom and torque tube as we speak so I should be running it as an 800 by the end of the week. Cant wait for my 14s whippy 800 w/ 810mm rotortech blades. This heli has felt like it should be an 800 since day 1.

What do you mean by that?

Default meaning

Its got a large canopy giving it a large presence in the air it looks like an 800 with a short tail. It is super responsive cant wait to try 14s, hopefully tomorrow will be less windy and by friday i'll have my extended boom and torque tube.

I am not 100% sure on what caused my crash but I have 2 possibles. The heli banked hard right all of a sudden when I was hovering. It went in blades first on its side with a light chicken dance. The crash looked worse than the actual amount of damage.

Possible reasons: one servo lead from the micro beast was loose but still connected. Maybe it was just loose enough to cause a problem. Fix: I am gonna put hot glue on my micro beast/reciever where the servos connect.

#2. I used the stock microbeast mounting tape on this build. A lot of helifreaks have had this type of crash and found this tape to be the problem. Fix: I just bought some 3M mounting tape that a member recommended.

I think one of these were this issue.

Bobby Watts and Bert Kammerer recommend Shoe Goo http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Shoe-Goo-37oz in one of their SmackTalkRC videos. However, Ray Hostetler of Ray's HeliTech uses hot glue in his videos.

Shoe Goo just seems a lot easier to work with.

+1
I have had the hot glue come loose. I found this Lock Tite product that is just like shoe goo (seems just a little thinner), but in a smaller package making applying it easier and neater.

BeastX connections seem to come loose easier than most other FBL units

Put nine flights on my electric Whiplash on Wednesday. I have 23 total flights now since the 29th. OMG too fun. My charger overheated I was working it so hard. 103 degree heat with 33% humidity doesn't help.
Haven't even finished tuning the ESC and gyro and this heli is great.
Did my lowest inverted hover yet and between the MA quality and flybarless stability the perfect inverted climb outs are awesome
