Default 10" blades 4cell? on DJI 550 ?

My DUI 550 has landing gear,Gimbal with gopro and video tx and extra battery. It's heavy and I'm running the 8" blades. Seems to do fine but I'm wondering if I should be using the 10" blades or ?..can you use the 10" with 4 cell? Can anyone help me out or reccommend what I should be using for my heavy 550. Mostly just hovering around taking pictures. Thanks

I'm using the exact hex as hat guy with the same 4s 6000mah battery and go pro gimbal except Im running 8inch Graupners with great success and plenty of power left. Also lugging around an 800mah battery, transmitter, seperate ccd camera, and a gps gaza antenna. For me it seems to be the sweet spot. Motors and ESC's are barely warm after a flight. Experiment around with some props. I have not tried the 10inch.

I'm currently running 4S 4000mah on the FW550 stock on 10" props with FlameGear LG/CM, and GoPro. Motors and ESCs are coming down just barely warm.

I just added the NAZA GPS and will also be mounting my FPV gear shortly. I'm going to move to a 4S 5000mah for added flight time.

When you punch the collective (throttle) it takes off like a rocket ....

The ESC's arent the problem its the burning hot motors.
I test fly daily and I guarantee if you run 4s with stock 10" props the motors will burn your fingers after about 3-5 mins of hovering.
For the most lift without burining up the motors go with 9" Graupners on 4s.

Hey Tony. I'm not sure what's going on with my setup, but the motors are barely coming down warm...

I tested the GPS function the other night and took it up 50 feet or so in the air, locked in on GPS position hold, and let it sit there for a good 5-6 minutes talking and monitoring the model.

Immediately upon landing, I checked the ESCs *AND* the motors because I had heard of hot running motors in this configuration. Both were only warm to the touch. It wasn't even worth pulling out my temperature gun.

Maybe I lucked out or something... ??

I'm running a Hyperion G3 CX 4S 4000mah pack.

Scratch that. I think I know why my motors are coming down cool ... I removed my FlameGear LG/CM before that test flight, elminating a bunch of weight from may AUW.

I totally forgot ...

On a side note, Tony. I'm making some modifications to my FlameGear LG/CM. I'm going to try and incorporate bearings and make a few other small modications to the mount that I think might improve the design.

I'll keep you up to date via email on my progress so that you can pass it along to the fellas at X468
