Hi, any thoughts?
The main bearings are 3x6x2 I prefer to get bearings from a specialist supplier ( not sure Eflite quality is up to scratch and they cost more). But the closest spec the supplier I use has is 3x6x2.5... Will these do? Has anybody else had the same? PS. I am using the Astroid carbon frame brace under the lower bearing. Cheers, B

Well being half a mm longer does no harm on the top one other than move the head *Hub center) up which means adjusting the lentgyth out . The AD Frame brace will have to have its' bearing hole opened up. I do this to mime first thing. I know some like the way it prevent the bearing from faling out in a crash, well my gear has never came completly off even in myt worse crash and I like to be able to remove the bearings to clean ,check and relube them .
So bottom line you will effectively lose 1 mm total of saft length so that aprox. 0.040 " less of the grears keyed area (flat) will be engaged. If you make your own solid CF main shafts then just make a custom one. It would be possible to use a reamer same size as bearing OD and ream the frame 1/2 mm deeper top and bottom. On second thought the AD frame brace is providing some extra length for the bottom bearing when opened up. Hold the Presses ! my coffee just kicked in. Remove the shaft collar and file 1/ mm about 0.020 from the bottom side, yes both side are the same but mark one as the bottom .The CF frame brace shoulb take care of the bottom section once hole is opened up. If you check the top hub of the main gear you may find it is slightly(?) worn from draging in the CF. |

Great company with great bearings. At $1 a peice, they are cheap enough to replace often instead of spending tons of time to restore. I have always used this company for my land based R/C vehicles. |

Are these more durable than the stock bearings?

I'm no bearing expert, but avid bearings work great in my losi 8ight and handle all the abuse of the bumps and jumps of the off road race track.

Thanks for the help guys!
I'm in the UK and was hoping to get a local supply... But your links made me realise that these bearings are open, not shielded. I modified my search and managed to get them at the right size for £1 each (better than £4.36 for a pack of two). I would have gone with the 2.5mm bearings, but do want to captivate the lower bearing with the brace, as my BL bird has shed the main gear fully on a few occasions. Thanks again, B

I knew that size sounded familiar. My Gaui 200 uses that same 3x6x2 bearing on the grips. The part # is 203295, and they are shielded. It's $3.50 for two, whatever that works out to in your currency. I would think there is someone close that you could order them from. Can't say how they are as MCPX main shaft bearings, but I have never had a problem with them on the grips of my Gaui's. I will give them a try when I replace the bearings on my MCPX.
