Yeah, I should have emphasized that my settings should definitely NOT be used as a starting point if you're converting a Blade 450 over to flybarless.
I'm still using stock servos currently. I had a tip-over and replaced the gears in two servos, but all along they have appeared to be operating correctly. The swash stays level during collective pitch movements, which uses all three servos, so I don't believe it's a servo issue. I did order 3 of the D213F servos from hobbyparts.com that I might switch to at some point. They're very slightly slower, but have metal gears. I painted the landing gear, and the horizontal and vertical fins at the tail. The tail blades are the KBDD orange ones. |

Hi gobtol,
What parts did you need to get? Is the ZXY compatible with the plugs on the stock RX and servos? Did you need to get any servo extension leads or anything? What head did you get? I can see its Tarrot but do you know the model number. I would like to convert my 3D or FBL. I have been flying mCPx and V120D02S for too long and do not like the flybar on this heli. It is just not what I have gotten used too. Any help and guidance would be appreciated before I order the parts. Has anybody use the Hobbyking FBL head on this hel? Thanks, Ibs |

This is the head I am using: http://www.hobby-wing.com/tl45110-01.html You will want to get some Align 450 swash balls since the ball links on the Tarot head are larger than the Blade ones.

As far as wiring, the ZYX gyro comes with all the cables needed to connect everything up. Here's an excellent thread that explains how to wire everything up.
http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?...ghlight=wiring Other than the gyro, you obviously have to have a flybarless head. I used the Tarot locking head, part number TL-45110-04. Mine is blue, but black and silver are available too with an -03 or -05 at the end of the part number. Here's a link for the head from CNCHelicopter. http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet...barless/Detail Now the Tarot head is designed to be used with the Align size swash balls, and will not work with the smaller swash balls used by Blade. To fix this, I replaced the balls in my swash plate with Align ones. I got these at my local hobby shop, I'm unsure of the part number. Now the first time I did this, I happened to break one of the new balls off in my swash plate, and had to get a new swash plate, so be careful, use loctite, and definitely don't try to overtighten them. I also added a set of carbon fiber blades from hobbypartz.com, with are excellent for the $6.50 or so that they cost. A servo extension wire could be helpful, but it's not required. I mounted the gyro the same place the original gyro mounts, and I had to reroute the servo wires for the front servo. Instead of going underneath the helicopter, I went straight along the right side, and used a couple of dabs of hot glue to secure the wires in place. Other people have used double sided tape successfully as well. It's a little intimidating at first converting over to flybarless, but once you get going, it's really not that bad. I've learned way more about my helicopter by doing this conversion than I ever would have by simply flying around. If I was doing the conversion again, I would probably go ahead and by a set of these turnbuckle links as well. http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet...ess-New/Detail They're not required, and they Tarot head comes with adjustable links, but these would make adjustments a lot easier. |

When going to FBL inverted hovering is a lot more locked in. While mine was FB it was way more squirly and required constant stick corrections.

AGNH45048 : 450 PRO LINKAGE BALL SET For T-REX 450 PRO would be the correct part for your conversion.
