That statement just makes you an idiot. I will say it again: a 550 can kill you. Running a heli at its top end is not advice that should be given to anyone unless you know they're capable of the mechanical and set-up rigor needed for safety.
No where did I compare a 550 to a 500. You brought up 500 hs and I pointed you in the right direction letting you know that 500's run hs in the 3100rpm range. So a slightly bigger heli will have no problem running 2700 hs.

Maintaining helis is part of the hobby. Anyone who thinks they should just throw their heli together and forget about it needs to reevaluate the hobby. So yes, I am capable of that. What kind of question is that? LOL

I'm not going to argue with you because obviously you don't know how to read the manual sitting there telling me that there is a problem running 2700 hs. If something happens to some poor soul at 2700 hs take it up with Align because that's what the manual states. Try hooked on phonics it will teach you how to read the words and numbers. So you continue to run your 2200 hs and I hope that heavy boat flys well enough for you not to bog and "kill" you. To each their own.

By the way, I see you keep saying a 550 can kill you. A 450 can kill you so be sure not to go around acting like anything smaller than a 550 wont kill you. Safety first! Don't fly your heli directly in front of you if you cant control it. It is a helicopter, take it up in the air.

Guys to each their own, some people like flying with lower headspeeds and some like to run it as high as safely possible. There is no need for name calling, this is supposed to be a fun hobby.

I agree. I took my jab and I will refrain any further negative post regardless of what comes at me. Happy flying to all and God bless.

is it possible for me to run a cc100 with the governor with 550 mains? I read that 2250 is about the limit for the motor or esc, i cant remember.......my guess is that you all are running fixed end points up at 2400+ rpm. Thanks, I just cant wait to crash this! lol : )))

Default Not such great luck

A new 550 pro and I can barely get it in the air when the tail starts oscillating side to side like crazy.
I have checked everything out, balanced everything in the tail. Reduced the tail gyro to 25 % and increased the collective throughout the curve.
I need a bit of help and advice on this please

Is it a real fast wag side to side or more of a slow wag. My guess is that you have binding somewhere in the tail. It may feel fine but if it is not completely smooth you will get that wag and it will never go away. I would take the whole tail rotor assembly off and move the push rod by hand real slow and see if it binds anywhere. If it doesn't I would check every part on the tail rotor that moves and make sure no loctite has got into the pitch arm links. If that is not the problem the last thing I would check is that the bearings in the tail grips are in all the way seated in the grips and the thrust bearings are in the right orientation. If that is all good and you are 100% confident that the tail is BUTTER smooth then I would start looking at the servo or the gyro.

Default Tail Wag

Yhanks for the advice Raydee. The wag is as though the gain is too high, the gyro is overshooting and then correcting, overshooting correcting.I thought Ihad it fixed by changing the main shaft ( factory supplied) At least now I can hover, until I use the tail then it starts all over again. Would a higher or lower head speed help. I will do what you advised , then try again. Ill let you know

check the gain channel settings in your Tx, it sounds like you might have it set differently. How do you have it assigned?

Did you have a crash? You said you changed the main shaft? Why did you decide to do that? Check to make sure your feathering shaft isn't bent or has play. The good ole' mCPX use to do the same thing if bent or not tight.

Thank you so much for the advise. When you say lag, what do you mean?

anythibg less than 2600 i DO NOT LIKE! i run 100 tc flat in idle 2 and get just over 2700 for about 1.5 min then it drops to around 2650 the rest of the flight, i get 7 min flight with 3.78 v per cell. that being said i check every screw and all the feathering shafts before every flight as we all should do......

about the wag i have found that the tail slider rod holders(plastic on the boom) need to be oiled alot i got the wag and oiled them and presto it went away, just something to chew on but anywaz love this bird! happy flying guys
