Well, I am glad I took a picture of the Gaui as it is now gone. At the field where I was flying there are two areas to fly in. I was flying in the one area and another person was flying a 700 in the other. I landed mine and focused my attention on the other flyer, when I looked back there my little Gaui was....gone. I then looked at my TX and the throttle had caught my pants when I had put it down at my side. Spent all day looking for it no luck.

Ouch. That really hurts ....

Hopefully, you'll stumble on it. How long was it from the time you landed to the time you looked away and looked back?

That's the one feature that I really like on the NAZA controller. It won't spin up unless you move the sticks to certain position at the same time.

Unfortunately, it was about 5 minutes maybe more and the battery still had at least 8 minutes left. I was hoping it went down in the long grass but no luck. There is a bush area past the field in the direction the wind was blowing so tomorrow I will search the tree tops for a while. I was thinking about setting up a throttle hold but hadn't gotten around to it. Expensive lesson learned. I had dialed it in so well it was extremely stable the throttle was barely at 1/3rd when I looked at it. Oh well, I am glad I got the DJI 330 to bomb around in and I will start working on the f450 with the Naza soon.

That really does suck, don't give up hope you might get lucky.

Does remind us that putting a home contact number on RC models is a good idea.

Hey Pete I see in your photo you have a little Turnigy micro Quad. How do you like it? Hobby King just sent out an email with a complete RTF unit for $99.00. Is it worth it? I have the 450 and 330 and can't see myself, right now anyway, going bigger then the 450. I would appreciate your take on this unit.

Dave, I'm thinking to get that one too. But I guess, it's like a small heli compare to a bigger one. Less stable. What I do not like with the RTF one is the FC. It's HK v2.1 board.
I am going to use HK i86 board.

Pete, what do you think about the Turnigy micro quad.

The micros are pretty touchy, hard to get just right and you really need to make sure you keep the weight down. Mine has not been as good as I had hoped but it is a work in progress, I have a new frame that I plan on building to minimum weight and see how I go, the HK is a fairly heavy frame.

Best of luck finding it. I feel your pain ...

It's too bad you didn't have GPS installed, you might have been in range enough to flick the "failsafe" switch and gave it return home.

Pete, do you happen to know the weight of Turnigy mini frame?. It wasn't mention on the webpage. From the look, it does look heavy. I saw a mini frame at GoodLuckBuy, weight 55 gr.

Thinking to made one from QR Ladybird frame, but I do not know the size of the square CF rod. If any of you has QR Ladybird, would you be so kind to measure it for me? Is it 8x8mm?

Well, I checked the tree tops and stomped around the bush for a couple of hours and no luck, that ship has sailed. Oh well time to build my 450 with the Naza and I think you might just be getting an order for the GPS addition Jeff.

Looks like orientation is strictly a matter of taste with no "one best way". I also started with a 330 with the green props up front. My F450 has the red arms to the front. I also use led nav lights. I have had fun seeing how much of the 330 I could move to the 450. I was able to mount the 330 heli skids under the F450 and also transfer the lipo mounting plate which allowed me to place the lipo on the belly and free up the top deck. I also carried over the led's and RC timer esc units. I may carry over the Scorpion motors but for now, I will stick with DJI motors. The big advantage of the Scorpion motors is that they don't require custom props like the DJI motors.

Simply put, Naza and GPS are GOOD!

Hey Dave ... that really stinks.

Maybe it will turn up yet, I've had some guys find their stuff months later (one guy lost a helicopter in the summer and found it in the spring).

No problem, we'll get you looked after.

I actually follow the navigation standards for planes and boats, but I have a few more arms to work with on the FW550.

I'm running flashing white leds on the front two arms, red on the two port side arms, and green on the two starboard side arms.

Can't wait for my shipment of Graupners to arrive ...
