Default ZYX-tail bounce on piro left stop

My tail is bouncing on piro stop left(counterclockwise) only. Clockwise piro stops seem to be fine. It was much worse before until I went down on my Tail P gain, but I can't get it to stop perfect without bouncing.

This is on my Stretched 6sMini Protos i have just built. I have had the ZYX on two other 450 helis without any problems at all.

any help would be appreciated. I'm kinda new at messing with the PID gains.

I had the same problem as you. Turn down your tail d gain and it should help. I have mine set at 0 and no bouncing.

Are you using the 8 degree tail blade pitch into main blade rotation recommended by John_NZ?

What does that mean? I am having similar problems on my trex250, but it bouces on both cw and ccw piros.

You should play around with your settings in the ZYX to get the piro bounce to stop both ways. Read here about all the settings http://www.toyrecycler.net/?p=23279

I found that you really need some D gain for clean stops. Try setting D to 15, then decrease the Tail Deceleration value for the side where it bounces until it stops without bounce. If you decrease it too much, the stop will look mushy. Most people find they need different L/R decel values to get clean stops both sides.

I got it worked out, but then I upgraded servos and put an AR7200BX on it.. The zyx is going back on my Mini Titan. Thanks for the info, I did learn alot about they settings on the zyx which should come in handy later.

Hey Wbefield, when you say you got it worked out, what settings did you end up changing to stop the tail bounce. I have the same problem, I get hard stops when i turn the nose left, but when i turn the nose right, the tail stops and then bounces back about 5 - 10 degrees.

Individual helis will need different settings to cure the piro stop bounce, which is a common problem with these gyros.

Start with P=80, I=50, D=10. Set your deceleration rates 27 on CCW piros and 22 on CW (this is the bouncy side). If you still have bounce, decrease the CW deceleration, if it's too mushy, increase (1 point at a time).

I had the exact same problem, I had to lower the "I" gain and it worked great after that.
