My 6hv has rusty screws, do all compass models have this? Is it a concern?

Had my 7HV from launch, flew in spits of rain and high humidity during the build up to the rain season, but no issues with rust on my bolts (just doing a rebuild atm). But I haven't flown it in the salty air near an ocean yet.

My 7HV has this too on the bolts holding the control arms. I now store my heli in the bag for it with silca gel beads and that has helped. I also add a few drops of Clp to those screw heads after wiping it down for the day too.

Spoke too soon, found 2 bolts with some minor surface rust.

And I am damn sure the bolt will not just rust away during the active life of the heli
BTW , surface rust can be a good thing , it can form a patina which which inhibits deeper rust

You will have bought the latest and greatest helicopter long before rusty screws will ever be a structural issue but, yes, it is not attractive. If you like to keep things looking nice, use a Q-tip and a good protectant on the screws. Q-tip keeps it from getting on everything. I use an aircraft corrosion product, can't remember what it's called but anything will work.

I have not run into this.
I will look at some of my older Compass machines this week, to see if there is any rust present. The Atom 500, 6HV and 7HV are clean.

This comes from a lack of oil on the bolts during shipping, you may see this with tail hubs as well.

It'll happen wether they are rusty when received or not. As soon as we degrease them with acetone for using threadlocker, they will begin to rust unless kept oiled.

You dont have to use acetone on them prior to threadlock. If you are using the real Henkel Loctite, example 243 as I use then that has emulsifier or what you call it. Similar technology as how you get oil to bind with water. So the thread locker will stick very well even if there are a little bit of oil on it. Its enough to dry it off with a dry cloth prior to applying Loctite...

I have a couple of friends that keep their helis in their garages and they have rusty screws. I keep mine in my air conditioned house and mine are not at all rusty. This is regardless of brand.

No rusty screws but I got a rusty tail hub today.
Ah well, it spins so fast the rust will just fling off.

I don't have any on my 3D plus but this really comes down to how the bird is stored and cleaned. I use gun oil to prevent rust on the screws (Remington oil with Teflon lubricant) and also I us a break free gun cloth that has silicone on it. My bird is stored in my basement
