Hi,
Sorry about your crash.
I made every crash into opportunity to upgrade.

KDE Main Rotor housing http://www.kdedirect.com/TREX550600MRHFB.html is a very good alternative. The quality is very good as the rest of the KDE products. Very durable too. I had several bad crashes with bent main shaft and the head is still true. The thing I like most about the head is the clamping mechanism on the sides. Some of the Align stock heads have some play even after the Jesus bolt is tightened down. This eliminates this issue.

Another option is the Align DFC head. It looks very cool. No negative report on 550/600 so far. There are some concerns on the design but only time will tell.

Or you can opt for the Compass/Tracx head. Good results reported in this thread.http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=392622 I am not 100% sure, but I think the feathering shaft is different from Align.

If you decide to stick to the regular head (Align or KDE), see post #25 for links to different length of balls.

In case you missed it, this is the link to the regular head on 600 pro. http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=388245&page=2 It is using beastx but should give you some ideas.

Hopefully, someone with vbar can post their findings with number soon.

Good Luck

yea..the feather shaft is different..there is no step cut on the ends...its just a straight shaft with the threads in each end.
no mods or replacement arms to buy...the hv6 head is a direct fit.

i just read through that post about the tracx head and for some reason the tracx head has 5mm longer delrin tubes than the compass...why...no idea,i forgot all about that point but i thought it would be good to post up this info here so it does not get over looked seeing as we are all this heli boat together

well with the KDE arms in place and the 700n short ball on the inner swash i was still unable to get my Vbar in the "recommended ranges". which is very unfortunate. i will keep trying but, i dont know how much i can do to get my resolution any better.

Sorry to hear that. Is it possible to move the ball on the servo horn in?
Just for reference, the stock servo horn with ball on the inner hole is about 21mm center to center.

Good luck

Sort of the same story for me.. I built my 600EFL new with these KDE arms and a new Vbar. I'm using all the stock balls, as I wanted to try it stock first. I also left the balls on the servo arms in the outer hole as it would bind if it was in the inner hole. Not the greatest design on Align's part.

For the collective range setup I got the minimum recommended resolution, which was 80 points i believe, for 12 degrees of pitch. For the cyclic range setup i was way off... i set it up for 8 degrees like it asks, but only came up with 63 points of resolution, when it recommends 80. I've flown it like this for a while now, and it flies awesome, but i still wonder why the resolution is so low even with these arms. And if it would fly even better if i fixed that

yeh i was around the same numbers as you ... when i changed my inner swash balls to the 700n 8.5mm balls i hoped it would fix it... instead im at 80 for collective and around 70 for cyclic

Fitted KDE arms and 700 swash balls and am getting 83 of cyclic and seems to fly nicely.

The only issue I had is the kde arms are not rebated to take the shouldered swash arm bolt.

Default Just did upgrade

Just did the upgrade. I already had the short balls on the inner swash and the longer ones on the outer. Also was on inner holes on servo arms. I had decent resolution but lots of cyclic ring in vbar, I was down to 69 cyclic ring and only 12 degree of pitch.

After KDE holder arm upgrade my resolution was in the high eighty's and low nineties with 13 degree of pitch and 78 on cyclic ring with no binding. I Used the KDE holder arms, outer holes on servo's, short balls on inner swash and long balls on outer.

Should be able to test tomorrow. I was just about to sell this hunk due to geometry but this may save it.
