Would this thread apply to setting up an HC3-base model as well?

Which software version did you use?
Does the set up technique stay the same with V 5.0 and the newest V 5.2?

Why not using revomix? It just pre adjusts the tail wrt pitch.. Doesn't it help to the gyro?

Use it only if necessary. Not as precaution.

I found this setting never helped in tuning much at all, other settings like P gain being higher and having delay at 2 helped tune the tail so the tail would not kick out hence getting rid of the need for any revo mixing.

You might be right.. I disabled revomix and found that HC inherently has this fn.. if you increase the pitch rapidly, it moves rudder and moves it back.. the idea of revomix is to help gyro with sudden pitch changes.. however, it seems to already have this..

Default Understanding all possible scenarios for all 4 HC3SX horizon modes

Am trying to understand how the various horizontal modes are enabled by the % value assigned to each switch position.

Independently of whether we have a 2 position or a 3 position switch or a push button switch, I would still like to understand
- the action taken by HC at the various % assigned, as below,
- in each of the 4 recover scenarios,
- for all the same possible % horizon settings:

I attach an excel where I analysed all scenarios with my own possible interpretation; I would appreciate someone to review and edit excel with comments so that we can all understand the consequences of he % selcted per mode.

Apologies for long mail, but looks like there is no exhaustive explanation in the manual
Thx,
sk8n

Ok, easy You are pretty close already.

In "Hover&Scale" as well as "Norm.&Inv." it is exactly as you stated, and there is NO coll.pitch action. Positive and negative signals are resulting in the same, so -50% = +50%.

In 3D modes "Acro" and "Goes to pos.", the positive signal range is the same as for the other 2 modes. The difference is in the negative signal range, LED flickering green:
With -100% the real Captain Rescue is engaged, incl. coll.pitch action. And you should always use -100% (or even lower like -112%, this does not make a difference, the system will handle it as -100%). Reason is that if you go with e.g. -70%, the coll.pitch stick is not completely overridden and an unluckily bad stick position could lead to a not perfect working rescue action, as the system may not work with it's maximum capabilities. So to make it short: in 3D modes forget about -1...-99%, there is only a -100%.

Default Install pics.

Some install pics. would help alot. It will not fit inside my trex sport v2, and I have a Huey fuselage so if I get one I will have to mount it outside the frame and it is not end pin which may make it a little hard to keep the wiring clean. Even more of a problem with no fuselage. I dont know why they dont make it end pin, it would make for a better install IMO. GREAT INFO, Thanks WS

Default mechanical tail setup

I'm not 100% clear on the tail settings. I have uneven tail travel from left to right. For example lets say I have 40 left and 50 right. Should I make them both 40 or do something to adjust the mechanical center of the tail's throw? BTW, the tail geometry seems to be designed to counteract a hover when the tail servo is roughly at center travel. According to the first post in this thread I should also move the connection to the servo arm closer to the center, correct? Thanks.

Well it might be more to the left and less to the right. I would keep it like this.

You really have something like 40 point only? It's way too low. What helicopter?
I would move the ball one hole in on the servo arm which might give you limits around 80. This is the number I'm looking for and not 40.

I'm setting up an Align 450 Pro DCF. Everything is stock and to the manual's spec except for the HC3-SX I just installed. The heli is not in front of me right now but the numbers are something like 40 and 50. I'll move in a notch on the servo are and keep the slightly uneven numbers as you suggested. Thanks.

Just bought a 700e HV combo myself. HC3-SX, on the way.

General, did popokatepetl's goblin setup numbers work ok for Trex 700?
