Default Need help and tip to get old switch off the board

Hey guys I have a Futaba radio 3 position switch broke one now need to un solder it. That would be the hard part. How should I do it. I guess I need to heat up all three to take out the switch right? I need to get a cheap soldering iron for now what would you guys recommend just to do this? Below 20 bucks. Thanks.

Get some solder wick or solder sucker pump from radio shack or somewehere like that and de-solder one joint at a time. Give the lead a little push after you've done all 3 to make sure the lead has broken free from the solder. It will come right out.

Nice tip bro how about soldering back a new switch without Futaba knowing I done it or someone done it without voiding warranty?

More than likely, the Futaba tech that would do the service work will know if the solder joint is original or not. Also by the manufacturer of the switch itself. Most pcb's are manufacturered using a wave solder machine and are not hand soldered with the exception of a few odd shaped componants. The solder joints are very smooth and uniform. I was a maintenance tech at an electronics manufacturer for 17 yrs and also was a wave solder and smd reflow oven operator before that. So I've seen a few solder joints in my day.

I can't tell from that pic, but sometimes the pcb manufacturer will apply a coating of sealer after the pcb is completely finished.

Let's just hope you don't need any warranty work. If you do, they may not have a problem with you having changed the switch, if the warranty work would not be related to the switch replacement.

Easy to do, do you have a solder sucker ?

First you flow the 3 connectors with solder
Second you use the solder sucker / solder wick to remove all the new solder.

Some like solder wick some like suckers.

Looks pretty easy to do with the sucker..

Dash.

I usually start with a sodapult and use some wick to clean what's left. I'll skip the wick if I can, consumables add up.
