Default Motor install on ESP model

Guys, Im sorry as Im almost certain this has been posted before. I have searched with google on this site and other but dont seem to find a good answer. IM ready to install my motor and esc. For now Im using the stock align esc from the ESP kit. The wires out of the motor have a bullet connector on them. I am looking for a good way to mount the motor and esc and keep the wires out of the way. Do I need to get rid of the bullet connectors? Shorten the esc wires?

Thanks for all the opinions and Im sorry for such a dumb question.

I guess it depends on where you're mounting your ESC? I never had to shorten any wires on mine, just plugged them in. But you can use zip ties or something to hold them against the frame if you wanted. Assuming you have a 500M motor? MX? I have my ESC mounted on side frame, motor wires run into a hole at the rear of the frame then back toward motor and plug in between the frames. Out of sight, not running into anything. Dunno if that helps??

you can get the ESC under the battery tray, tick is to get it right down the end of the tray so the two caps are just sticking out, then you can bend the wire isto an S shape to get it all in

You can shorted the ESC motor wires if you want, just don't try to shorten the wires on the motor itself.

If you dont like the ESC under the battery plate.. I have all my ESC's mounted on the side of the heli...good airflow, and is easy to route the wires...

Thanks guys. Yes I have the 500M motor. I guess I am worried about the wires getting into the spinning motor as from what I can tell the whole barrel spins on this motor. (My first brushless)

Right now I have the motor wires pos at 11 o clock if you hold the heli front down facing the top (head) Then I put the esc wires around the motor but it concerns me that they will get caught. So the next thing is to turn the motor so the wires face the front and tuck under the battery plate.

Any other suggestions or thoughts on my process. Deet confirmed what I was thinking I needed to do, I just wasnt sure and I would hate to have my first crash because the motor ripped up my esc wires.

The side of the heli I want to kep clean and empty if I can at all help it.

Yup, then do the ESC under the battery tray mounting, that'll keep things tidy for you. As long as you're mindful of wire length and routing you'll be fine. If in doubt, strap the wires to the frame somewhere. I had my ESC mounted under battery tray for quite a while, worked just fine but I had the L motor which has a stationary can around it so no worries about anything twisting up in the spinning motor, just the pinion.

Thanks DKS. I have been working on it tonight actually. Still not satisfied though and now Im afraid if I cut the wires on the esc it will make things worse. I guess Im worried about kinking the wire as well when I do the S. These bullet connectors are so freaking long.

I was actually able to (without cutting any leads) run the esc to motor wires along the side of the ESC while it was under the battery tray. I used a velcro patch to hold ESC to battery tray, and then used a velcro strap around the outside of frames and battery tray, through the slots in the frame and around the ESC to keep the wires right along side the ESC. Then they ran out toward the front of the heli so I just curved them back toward the motor. Again, my motor was a 500L so it was easy to fit them together as the motor wires came out at the bottom of the motor rather than the top. I imagine if the wires are long enough though that you could still run them this direction, just strap them to frame and have the motor wires exit toward the front of the heli instead of to the rear? Most important area of concern on mine was making sure the wires that came out of the ESC didn't hit the pinion. I had a good 4-5mm clearance and they were strapped in place so that was good. If you have to shorten the leads, get new bullet connectors as I'm pretty sure they're cheap and solder new ones on with some new heat shrink. Dunno if that was a concern for you when you mentioned being unsure about cutting the wires or running them in an "S" pattern. I know kinking them is undesireable, but I've run them in pretty tight bends and haven't kinked them Good luck!! Let us know how you make out.

Thanks. That gave me an idea. I think Ill zip tie the wires to the side of the frame and try not to kink them. It looks like it should work alright if I make sure to keep the bullet connectors out of the way of the pinion.

Thanks for the help.
