I don’t have that exact combo but this works well as a starting point for big Scorpion motors.

Low timing (0 or 1)
PWM 8
Current limiting insensitive
Soft cutoff
Start power set to the maximum
Governor gain start at 15 and tune as required. Gain will be slightly different for each setup.
Set the LVC to a very low value and time your flights.

What happened when you guys ran higher timing ? Doesn't the lower timing limit the power of the motor ? This could explain some the issues I am having with heat in the ESC....

CC used dynamic timing so it is continually changing during flight. The timing number just sets the aggressiveness of the timing algorithm. Low numbers tune it for maximum efficiency and higher numbers sacrifice efficiency for power. From my experience low timing always results in the coolest motor and ESC temperature.

The main reason for a hot ESC is running the internal throttle (throttle in of data logger) less than 85% for long periods of time. When flying you want the average to be 85-90% and it should hit 100% when you push it hard especially when the pack drains below half. That way you are getting the maximum performance from your setup.
