I would like to dial down the stick response to the tail, too sensitive to very small stick movements especially while hovering. I have the rudder expo at 30 already and don’t know if going higher is the best answer.
Can anyone suggest what the best software adjustment would be? Is it the Tail Rotor Gain on the main menu or is it one of the advance menu settings? The distance from tail servo spline to ball is about 9-10mm so if all fails I could try to move it to 7.5-8mm to reduce the response. Set up as per the manual.
Go to software advance settings, and check dead band is set to somewhere between 5 & 10. You can then use either Atv or expo, or both. Do not be afraid of using more expo as the ZYX likes a fair amount of expo. As a last resort you could also increase the deadband setting but I do not like using that setting for sensitivity but it may work for you. As for me it works more like a switch where you have no real movement then it switches on and there is a sudden movement of throw. Bear in mind though if you currently have the deadband at default 40, then your expo will not work until you are using a high percentage, and this could be your problem. |

I think Agility controls the max tail speed? If that's correct, lowering Tail Agility would be kind of like reducing your Dual Rates on the radio, it would slow down your max piro rate. Without requiring more messing around with the radio.

Yes, that was my problem. On the bench you can see the tail blades dart into position when you move the stick to the edge of the deadband. That's a firmware issue and it might be fixed with 3.5 Haven't tried it yet. Maybe someone who has can chime in.

I can confirm that FW 3.50 has fixed the weird deadband behavior. It's much smoother now and acts as expected.
