Hi Folks
I did find them, but, think I am missing bits. It just didn't look right in the air, so I was coming down when I had my blades explode in opposite directions.I think I am missing a couple of bits and would like to check with you guys, what should be there. I think it should be- (blade grip) (rubber damper) (metal washer) (rubber damper) (HEAD) (rubber damper) (metal washer) (rubber damper) (blade grip) With the feathering spindle through the lot. I think I am missing two dampers Thanks for any help Philip

The sequence should be :
Blade grip (ball race in each side) Metal washer (ridge outwards) Rubber dampener (recessed in the head) Head Rubber dampener (recessed in the head) Metal washer (ridge outwards) Blade grip (ball race in each side) Use Loctite on the feathering spindle screw when you re-assemble it. |

Thanks guys
I was mistaking the ball race for a second damper. Also, thanks for pointing out the step/ridge in the washer. Not sure I would have noticed that. I was intending to locktite the screw in the spindle. Oddly enough, the purple locktite that I have came in a blue bottle and the blue locktite came in a bottle that almost looks purple! Go figure! Have fun

After having it flick out of a pair of needle nose tweezers twice!! and somehow finding the sucker, I tried balancing it on the end of a Phillips head screwdriver which has a wide enough base to stand upright on its own.
I then used a fine blade driver to apply a little locktite, removed the excess by very gently touching with a tissue. I could then carefully bring the blade grip down over the screw and hold it in position in the bearing, with the driver. Then carefully slide onto the feathering spindle and screw together. All happy now, I hope!

Now slide the other blade grip on. The rubber dampeners will stop the FS from sliding back through the head. The FS screws used to be magnetic but now don't seem to be so you cannot usually get them to stick on the end of the screwdriver by magnetising it. I usually use a very small blob of grease on the end of the screwdriver and hold the screw in place with that. Start the screw into the Loctited thread on the FS but do not push too hard. The easiest way to tighten the FS screws is to hold the Phillips head still by putting the screwdriver on it, holding the combined screwdriver and blade grip in one hand and tightening the other end of the FS. |

Your Dentist can be a great source of c/a or threadlock applicators. See if he/she will save their old picks (used to clean teeth) for you. Some of them have very fine ends. just soak em in bleach to kill any bacteria. My Dentist Autoclaves them before he gives them away.

The screw is so small and light that it even sticks if you just lick the end of the screwdriver !

I'm now kicking myself that I didn't put the locktite in the end of the spindle!

These are what you need. They work awesome for all kinds of uses with the MCPX. scrape the brush material off one for a perfect spindle loctite applicator...

Lay your screwdrivers/tools on an old motor or use a piece of magnet and rub your chosen tool on it before use. Like the magnet you stick on your fridge.

I agree,
My favorite screwdriver lives on a magnet when not in use. |
