Align GP 790 gyro problems

I am new to the hobby and having a problem with my Align GP790 on a Trex 450. This morning, I hooked up my battery and the light turned red on the gyro but the controls seemed to work normally. I tried turning off the radio, plugging in a new battery and had the same problem - no green light. I spooled it up & hovered it briefly and found the tail was rotating clockwise slowly. I put in down immediately. I then tried to rebind it to my radio and now it won't bind. I have searched this site & haven't found anything similar to this problem with the GP 790.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Red means its in rate mode. Did you flip your gyro switch or change the gain it the tx?
