Default F3C style and newbies, all those how's and what's

I must confess, I have an interest in F3C and precision, as well as any other style. Thing is I know absolutely nothing about it. I know nothing about setups and if I come across a page that explains setup, it's written for people well into it already with terms and a glossary I'm not familiar with. This makes it very hard to start looking at precision flying without having tutoring which I haven't.

Problem is, where to start looking for the basics? What are the things I should know about for starters, the terms, what do they refer to? What would a sensible training regime be? It makes no sense to me to just read the P schedule and start practicing those maneuvers on the sim without understanding anything of what's really going on. I am not heading for competition flying by any stretch of the imagination but would really like to hear from any F3C pilot what they think would be a good place to start for a total newbie who wants to do his best in his own back yard.

I too woukd live to hear more about this. I think percision flying is beautiful, it is a great demonstration of having absolute and total control of a perfecty setup helicopter. I too have a bunch of questions about it.

What is the premis of fc3 flying?
What all does fc3 entail?
What are the restrictions in this category?
Are all fc3 heli's flybar?
Are there any fbl units you can use?
How do you practice and train for fc3? Seems to me like flight sims lack the surgical precision and finess that you feel with a real heli
Do most fc3 pilots utilize high refresh rates and resolution?
What would you look for in terms of a setup for a fc3 heli?

Lastly, how in the HECK do you setup a flybar that good, lol.

Great to see you ask too, SamCassidy! You have already asked questions I didn't think of asking

As for fb vs fbl, I believe I know that one. The rules are no SAS of any kind, flybars only. There are also rules governing max weight and voltage for electrics but that too is one to ask, what are those limitations and are there other limitations for lower levels like grass root?

Check out the 'contest flying' forum... you will find a bunch of good info here. F3C isn’t really too popular state side, so you won’t get too many hits.
