Default 450 pro w/ beast x, tail will not hold

I have a brand new 450 pro w/ a brand new beast x, on a 9503 JR and running the beast as the receiver. Lift off the ground, tail holds, but once you move tail stick, it will stop when it wants to, wtf? turn gear ch/gain up and no difference. tryed new tail servo, no difference, tried new beast x no difference. Checked tail for binding, no binding. I am now lost for words, has anyone els had this problem or may know whats wrong??

When you increase the gain does the LED on the MB change to a different letter?

what are your rudder endpoints/atv's set at? Also what light shows when you first initiate. you want to start with gain giving a F light on the beastx and also heading hold will show a blue status light. If you are in rate mode and the gain is turned way down the servo will only move a fraction. What servo is this and are you sure the sevo is not kaput or has stripped gears?

The flip grip tail mod may or may not have some advantages, but I'm not personally convinced of them, apart from in rate mode for scale flying. Regardless of how important the mod is though, in my opinion it isn't so important that without it you would have a non functional tail with the MB. As a matter of interest I'm flying a 450pro with MB, and single satellite, no main receiver, and the tail is excellent, and I have not done the flip grip mod. Never could understand the need for it for me when flying in HH mode, which is what I exclusively do.

I think in order to help though people may need a clearer description of exactly what is going on. If I'm honest I cannot quite understand your post OCHT. It is probably me, but maybe you could try again to describe exactly what is happening and see if there might be some other suggestions too. Perhaps a few more details about your set-up, head speed, servo, etc, might help too.

Cheers

Sutty

Has a DS520 servo, and yes im in HH and lights are moving on micro beast, seems to hold for about 20ses, then tail will stop where ever it wants when applying rudder. rudder atv's are at 100% and so is expo. Still no luck im so baffled, I build heli's for a living, never had this kind of a problem

Bad servo?

The only Align servo I had any trouble with was the DS650 I used on the tail of my 600N.

OCHT,

I had a similar problems with my 450 Sport V2.

1st - switched the MB tape to a very stiff one. Like the 3M people usually recommend.

2nd - the tail grip bearings were bad. Replace them.

3rd - the tail grip arm were to stiff.

Basically what I've learn from my setup is that the tail has to be silk smooth mechanically.

Parameter D (I think), for head locking mode is on normal, which is the default.

Pod 3 is at around 10:30.

And the gyro gain is at 48 on my DX8.

I'm flying on sport mode.

Tail servo is the DS420. Cyclical are MKS DS92.

What are your settings?

I know it sounds too basic but just make sure your blades (both) are at the right direction.

I dont build Helis for a living but have built many tails after my crashes... So you would think I would know better and do everything correct... Yeah right...

Tough to admit in public but the maiden flight on my 500 the tail was all over the place because the tail blades were inverted.

Like I said all is great for the 1st couple minutes, then will not hold, does not make sense to me.

Can you describe the problem a little bit more? From what I see you are saying that it hovers fine at first but then after a minute it will not stop from a rudder input...

Does it do this only in one direction? Check the driveline for slippage to the tail blades... sounds like what the 450 V1 and V2 would do when the belt or hub would slip.

I thought the MB was okay. In your OP you said you had tried a new MB?
