Kasama Srimok head assembly videos for T700

At last I gotten round to assembling the dedicated Kasama Srimok head for the T700 - 24-7 RC posted an innovative arrangement using a modified Raptor 90 head and Synergy washout but this is the real deal straight from the Kasama factory.

It's pretty stock Kasama fare - grip mounted mixers - an 8mm spindle and ready installed thrust/radial grip bearings. The dampers are 3 O rings per side (2 on the T600) on alloy holders and these produce a very rigid head. The spindle for the washout block is mounted on the right rather than the left side so the existing T700 washout arms are used but flipped upside down.

You need to use the existing T700 swash and washout arms and will need a packet of ball links and mine was also short of the 88mm swash to mixer links which may be found in the T700 servo links packet - I used the CF tube here (supplied for the tail servo pushrod) to stiffen up the long 103mm links swash to mixer.

I decided to buy new swash, main shaft and washout arms so I could have a complete spare head assembly - the vids in two parts the first covers grip, head, mixer and seesaw installation and the second will cover flybar, washout and setup. Hopefully the 3rd will be a flight vid

So this is the nice stuff you pick up on your trip, looks very nice, when is this going to be available. Did you find out when they are coming out with the flybarless heads.

Hi Bobby - this stuff is availabe NOW - I actually bought it on another trip to Thailand a few months ago but hadn't got round to installing it till I decked the T700 - just click on the link above to take you to a US supplier

Good review , i've had the head on my 700 for a couple of weeks and like the way it works on the 700. Good tip to stiffen up the long pushrods with the carbon tube , will have to do that to mine.

I got mine from GrandRC about a month ago and just have not had time to play with it yet. Dang it John.... Now your gonna make me do it

This heli a problem child - 1st flight - head exploded fortunately only tail wiped out - turned out one of the Align Futaba wheels ground out its splines on the 620 metal output shaft - grrrrr - brand new Align 690C blades - 2nd go tail let go - spline from TT hadn't engaged in bevel gear on tailcase due to flash from previous mishap - grrrrrrr (I'm really careful to make sure TT fully home) - today lost it in a flip high up - managed to regain control and bring it in - 1/2 aileron needed to keep it S + L - other aileron servo done the same thing - now I'm really PO. Anyway no damage today and brand new wheels on - you gotta fasten these things down REAL tight to engage those splines as they're only shallow - gotta get some CNC ones

Anyway in between dramas the head handles REALLY nice - very connected and responsive but not unpleasant to fly at all - had 14° collective on 55% pitch swash mix so put this down to 45% which gives me 11° - fine for now - hopefully I'll get some more time to actually fly this beast now !

What bearing blocks are those?? I've been trying to get G-force 700 blocks, but haven't had any luck.... Do those have a separated thrust bearing??

The bearing blocks and CF cross-brace are also KASAMA - there was a thread discussing these. They have a separate thrust bearing incorporated in the block.

I am drooling when I watch Johns videos on the Kasama head for the 700!! The bearing block looks like a work of art and is defiantly going on my heli. I think I'm going to start with the 600!! Also are the tail grips from Kasama working out good? I got the Align ones but I don't know if I like them or not.

I've always used the QUK tail blocks but I think that they, like the Kasama ones, are boring - just fit and forget - I really like the thrusted bearing blocks - I was pretty dubious about whether the thrust bearing was worth while but there is no doubt the head spins more freely with them - I think Bob made the point too that they may increased durability 'cos IME radial bearings in a metal block almost invariable get notchy after a smack whereas thrust bearings taking the load may protect them - we shall see !

I've ordered some of the QuickUK ones - flew 3 tanks through the 700 this pm - seem to have broken the run of bad luck - flies beautifully with the Kasama head - not as lively as on the 600 but very connected and precise and tracks well

Curiosity has got the best of me again... Does anyone think this head, obviously minus the flybar, would make a good FBL head? Looks to me like you could mount some 20mm long ball standoffs on the grip arms and be done with it.

EDIT... Geeze just to buy the hub, grips and associated other junk to make a FBL head would be close to $220!

Agree would make a fabulous FBL head - bit academic what my head does a the moment - just ate my 5th clutch - only 10 flights (1auto) on this one
