Default new to the group, and in need of some suggestions

hi guys, im new to the group and am gonna start building a 550, but need some suggestions with parts. ive done some searching and found that people seem to be having good luck with the 821's. i will also need a gyro and tail servo, what do you suggest for that? im not planning on flying too extreme stunts, maybe a few loops, so im not looking for the most expensive parts . also looking to buy used if you guys have a gyro or a set of servo's or something i may need, thanks!

Welcome to the club

For the tail, I really like the Hyperion Atlas DS20GMD for the tail - add which ever gyro you like

Hi,

On one I am using a Gy401 and a Futaba S9650, and the other a JR 770 3D with a Align DS620.

I have had no problem with these.

Cheers,

Fred

I use the Ace Rc DS0606 tail servo it's a really good servo and quick at 4.8v the rest are maxwell 0821mg servos they are cheap and have performed great the gyro I have a futaba 240 that worked good then upgraded to the quark and that thing rocks..

Hyperion servos are GREAT, and relatively inexpensive. Digital, and metal gears. Very durable, and like running at 6v with no issues. I recommend getting your hands on a good quality gyro as it will make all the difference.

505b400, welcome to the circus mate. Some weird ones here but plenty good advice and laughs.

As to your question, love the quark NG's on the ball. The Hyps are really good servos from all reports and a good gyro will grow with your flying aswell as working better at all stages.

rovpilot, you home yet grandad ?

Vas

Still stuck on this dang ship... Should be home around the 26-27th... Thanks Vas...

As far as equipment for the Hurri, NG is spot on and definitely a good source for info...

Now as far as how to cut down a frozen tree in the middle of winter... If he suggest to use your Hurri... Pass on it... The tree will win....

Haha, yeah i decided after that i would not try to combine heli flying and tree trimming, lol. Now mowing the grass, that's another story

Well it just goes to show that some are more creative than others... Although I will always be a Gaui fella at heart.... My heli is still bigger than yours!

I'll be home in about a week and will call for my routine check-in on ya...

In all seriousness, NG is an awesome fella and an abundance of knowledge about helis and flying, plain and simple... I owe him more than he will ever take credit for!
