Need help setting up
Hi guys, I was hoping to get some advice here about a Hurricane 200
I have an airframe here, but it doesn't have any equipment at all. I need servos, a receiver, a speed control, batteries, gyro, motor, the works. I wouldn't mind getting it flying. I have managed to figure out that HS45 servos will work, plus a futaba 3154 for the tail, ar 6100 receiver, and gy401 gyro. I can't seem to figure out what motor to order, and what speed control/esc. Can someone give me a quick list of some parts I can order to get this flying? I just want to do sport flying, I haven't learned aerobatics yet. I kind of want to get this helicopter flying before it becomes so obsolete that I can't anymore! Thanks! |

Hey, it's good to see someone still interested in the old Gaui 200 !
You did not say if you were going to go flybarless or not, so I suppose not. I think you have made some sub optimal choices for your parts, but maybe budget is holding you back? You should invest in good servos, metal gear and metal housing. I used SAVOX on my G200: tail: Savox SH-0262MG cyclic: Savox SH-0255MG Next, I would get a small gyo, not a big GY401, for such a tiny heli. Try a Spartan Quark or something similar. For the motor, I use a skorpion HK-220, which is very powerful and reliable. For the ESC, I used a Castle Creations Phoenix 25, but I'm not sure if they still make it. (maybe they call it a TALON 25 now?) A good ESC, with a switching BEC is a guaranty of good performance and enough power for the servos and gyro. But, with all those digital servos and gyro, you may find that a separate BEC is needed. If that is the case for you, i.e. your servos and gyro don't behave right, sometimes, then I would go with the Castle CC BEC. I'm not saying that those parts are the exact ones you should/must use. But their specs could give you an idea while you're shopping around. Good luck! Ciao, Bob |

Thanks!
I didn't really "choose" those parts, they were just what I managed to piece together from other forums with guys talking about what they used. There isn't a whole lot of information about it, especially the motor. I bought the helicopter second-hand from a guy who didn't fly it much but he stripped all the parts so it doesn't even have the original motor. Hey it was a hundred buck. It seems really well-made and I like how it looks. You're right, it has a flybar! Thanks for the suggestions, that was very helpful. |
