Default Goblin 500...cool...a 6S option for me to consider

Y'all know I hate messing with lipos so this new Goblin 500 will cut the number of lipos needed in half as well as the capacity of the lipos will be half the big helis.

I'd rather babysit a couple 2600mAh 6S packs charging at 5.2 amps(2C)as four 5000mAh 6S packs charging at 10 amps(2C)....

Options are good.

It definetly looks like a baddass little heli. Did you watch the video of Bert and kyle flying it at 3DM? I think I maybe getting a little brother for my Gobbler 700 at the end of the year . I wonder if I can stuff a 4000mah pack in it.. So that way I dont have to buy new batteries. I remember when bert posted on facebook about the next Goblin everyone wanted to see SAB make. I thought for sure it would be a 550, for the battery sharing alone... Oh well I still want one really bad...

Charging a couple(two) 2600 packs at 5.2 amps is not a 2C charge. That is still only 1C assumming you are charge on a parallel cable or board. The same with two 5000 packs charging at 10 amps is still only a 1C rate. When charging in parallel you look at the total Mah to determine the charge rate. I'm pretty sure I am right about that, but if I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me.

There is also a new Synergy 500 coming out after IRCHA, which should do all the same stuff.

Were I a betting man, I would put money on the Synergy E5 being a lower maintenance generally higher quality machine than the Goblin, but I've not seen either up close.

I also wouldn't be the first kid on the block to own either of them. Let someone else work through the teething issues.

I am interested in eventually taking my T550 electronics which are all top quality and putting them into a better kit. I almost built up a Logo 500 which is definitely a better kit, but I still haven't gotten the bug to actually do it. The Goblin really doesn't interest me. I'm hoping the new E5 will be what I'm looking for.

Looking forward to see the 500 hit the market. Sounds like a great gift for Christmas.

So 630 coming within the next couple of weeks, 770 more or less around fall and 500 rounding it all up.
Also some may have had some quality issues. My 700 from the first batch is stll flying without issues. Had some awesome speed runs today again. Even the 500 seems very fast and agile.

I have seen a few Synergy's, and they are very nice machines. I am sure they will have less maintenance issues than the goblin. It seems like with the goblin, you need to change alot of parts after 100 flights. that can go by pretty fast. On the flip side, I do have to hand it to SAB for actually fixing known problems.. I have a Goblin 700 with all the upgrade parts, and it is a great machine. I am just not looking forward to the extra coin I'm going to have to drop at 100 flights... I think its going to be a hard choice for alot of people between now and next march. With a few really nice heli's coming out...

Since it is a smaller heli, it may not suffer some of the wear and tear that the 700's see. Only time will tell.

I got the chance to take a close look at the prototype e5 at the Cincinnati heli smack down. Matt was all to happy to set it next to my X5 and tell me all about it The e5 is a true 550. Swing 556 blades. Will be bigger. Goblin 500 uses mini servos, at least that is what I was told, and the E5 uses full size and will handle 6-12s setups.

I am personally torn. I am a HUGE Synergy fan. I am already bugging Fblrotors about Pre orders.

But I will be following the goblin 500 closely as the goblin 700 has earned a permanent spot in my fleet next to the E7.

I'm not really interested in the performance aspects of the goblins, I don't need to lawn dart a heli any faster than I do now. But what I do love about the goblins is noticing how much more visible and easier to follow them in the videos. For that aspect I might consider I nice little 6S gobby with a tamed down set up. Maybe even run it with some nice cheap 425's.

At that point it will fly very unresponsively.

The current Goblin really craves a fast headspeed.

I know my T550 feels DEAD at lower headspeeds, but my smaller Protos and larger TDR fly great at lower headspeeds( relative to their sizes). I suspect the Goblin 500 will feel dead at lower headspeeds as well based on what I have heard about the Goblin 700, but you never know.

actually the 500 runs on 1 3700-4000 pack with the option of 1 5000 pack according to Bert.. to maximize compatibility with the bigger Goblins.
