Used a butane portable iron. This looks a lot simpler.

+1 for the butane iron.

The electric one looks like a solution looking for a problem.

Default Bernzomatic

I am a radio engineer and I have solder things all the time. I have a Weller that cost $125 it is very nice and works well. But I also have a Bernzomatic that I purchased at Home Depot for $15 that works just as well. the only difference is that the Bernzomatic has to be lit with a lighter. The Weller has a built in ignitor. I use the Bernzomatic as much as I use the Weller because the Bernzomatic works just as well and it smaller so it fits in my tool kit better.

I use a torch on bullets, but I have that Lynx soldering iron and it's awesome. Torches aren't the best solution for every application. The Lynx one has a really nice, high quality tip that resists corrosion and on 3s, it gets hot enough to melt solder in like 10-15 seconds. I recommend getting that, and a cheap torch from Harbor Freight and you'll be set.
