Default tight flip, sloppy roll

I'm starting to play around with vertical rolls and half roll with a half flip pull out but despite having a pretty fast roll rate it looks more funnel than a tight, snappy roll while the back flip out of vertical is very snappy. Sometimes the roll is tighter than others, while it looks like I'm at 0 pitch while vertical because it doesn't appear to deviate from its course but starting to wonder if there is positive pitch applied when I do the if that will cause a wide roll diameter.

If I understood you correctly, you are either applying/having positive pitch or not enough negative pitch at the right time.

Rolls are just like flips. It is all about timing. As you rolls you will be doing 0, negative, 0, positive.

Yeah, what I'm doing is just stall piro with a full roll on the way up or a half roll and a half half flip at the top instead of the piro turn. I guess I still have some positive added that I'm not aware of during the roll by the way it funnels instead of a nice tight roll. Guess I accidentally did a baby hurricane by being sloppy on the collective. The odd thing is that on the way up before the roll it appears to track straight up, maybe the angle and distance from me could hide it if it was straying from vertical, its only a 450 so it gets small fast in the air. next time I go out I will try adding some negative if the roll starts to funnel out.

SmackTalkRC has a great video on flips and rolls - Learning 3D - Chapter 2.

Have you seen that? I strongly recommend.
