12s battery options on old 600e
I bought this Align 600E heli (older not the pro model) from one of my flying partners... Flies very nice and has some punch on 12s. Anyways when I bought it he gave me a few Turnigy 6s 3000mAh 20C packs (not the optimal heli battery IMO), which have a combined weight of 982 grams (34.6oz). I run radio gear with a 2s 2100mAh pack through a align regulator, which is mounted to the rear main pack and weighs 98 grams (3.46oz). My goal is to run 6s 3300 mAh packs, for a little extra runtime and I could share packs with another plane. What is the most weight you guys are running up front and still maintaining proper CG? Could it handle say 1050-1100 gram combined weight of the mains and still maintain CG, or is that pushing it? Another option I've been tossing around is the use of a CC BEC pro off the main packs in place of the regulator to loose weight of the 2s pack.
My main concern is with the 3300mAh packs or even higher C rated 3000mAh packs I would add to much weight in the front to maintain proper CG. I'm looking at Sky lipo 3300mAh 30C @ 519g (18.3oz) apiece, Gens Ace 3300mAh 25C @ 532g (18.8) apiece, and if I have to Sky lipo 3000mAh 30c @ 502g (17.7oz) apiece. Thanks in advance for your input Bryan PS I've read through the 600 forums and seen some with tray mods, but never got a definitive size of battery on unmodified trays. |

Hi,
I don't know if they are easy to find in your area, but in Belgium I can find very good lipos made by KYPOM. (website in Belgium is www.onlylipo.com). The 3300mah 6S 35C weight 499gr, so 12S is the same weight than Turnigy 3000 mah. They costs a bit more, but can be charged just after a run... John |

just to add some infos since my batteries are at home now. I can confirm the 600 esp is balanced with 2X 6s kypom 3300 mah 35C in the front on my config: scorpion 4025-630kv yge 120hv Kypom 2s 2200mah batt in the frame (rear part). John |

If it isn't to much to ask... Do you have any picks of battery in back?

Sorry to jump in late. I've been running 12s with 2x 3000mah 40C Turnigy packs for about two years. I use a CC BEC Pro.
With the packs installed side-by-side, the heli is *slightly* tail heavy, but totally flyable. With the packs front-back, the heli is quite nose heavy. |

The packs I mentioned can run side-by-side. The packs touch the canopy, but they don't push hard enough to change the shape of the canopy.

12S 600 T FBL
I run 2 x ZIPPY Flightmax 3000mAh 6S1P 20C because they are cheap around HobbyKing 30$ each from Euro warehouse.
It is good option for scale or sport flying. Definitely 40C packs are better for hard 3D but their price is around 60$. I fly sport with some flips&rolls inverted example:
After such flight they are slightly warm, not hot. Usually I do not discharge them below 3.8V per cell just to make them last longer. Most destructive for lipos is excessive discharging, overheating and mechanical puncture/damage. |
