Trex 600E Pro DFC build
Hello folks, I'm doing a build thread. Nothing monumentally original about this, but maybe it could answer some questions for some people.
Specs- KIT: Trex 600E Pro DFC FBL: AR7200BX SERVOS: DS615 (Cyclic), DS655 (Tail) MOTOR: Align 600MX (510 kv) ESC: CC ICE 2 HV80 BATTERIES: ---Undecided at the moment--- FLIGHT PACK: Nano-Tech 1600mAH 2S LiFePo4 TELEMETRY: TM1000-- Temp (ESC), RX Voltage, Main Battery Voltage, Head Speed. It will probably take a me a couple weeks to get it all done, but I'll post my progress as I make it. |

Starting the build
I built the head and tail according to the instruction manual. I put locktite on everything needing locktite. Everything fits together very smooth and feels very strong.
I then built the frame and mounted the boom pretty quickly and didn't snap any pictures during that process. I'm initially putting it all together so I can figure out where I'm going to mount all of the electronics and how I'm going to run the wires. When I figure that out, I'm going to tear it back down and take more detailed photos of how I'm mounting everything and where I'm running the wires. For now, here are some pics of it mocked together and the beginning of mounting the electronics. |

Start of electronics
I've mounted the HV80 on the left side of the receiver mount. I drilled three holes (only using two though, I changed my mind on how I'm mounting the ESC so the third one won't be used) in the plastic and I'm using two short screws to secure the ESC to the mount. It feels very securely attached, but I am using a velcro strap for extra security as well as to hold the temperature probe to the ESC.
I've mounted the TM1000 on the right side of the plastic frame with standard double sided foam tape. This side is also where excess wires will be routed and tidied up nicely. The small little device in the picture is the RPM sensor. You can't really see it, but the Battery Voltage sensor is soldered to the battery plug and the RPM sensor wires are soldered to two of the ESCs motor leads. On top of the receiver mount is where I'll be mounting a 2S 1600mAH LiFePo4 battery. The AR7200BX will go in the standard location, I think I'll have the servo plugs face towards the rear of the heli, but I'm still undecided about that. |

Compared to the EFL
So it appears the frames are the same... Is there any other differences other then the head, tail and servos?

Looks like that to me also, if you have upgraded the head to DFC and tail to new design, buy a new canopy and you're up-to-date!

Very good build, looking neat.
Can you post a pic of the elevator assembly, mainly the position of the servo arm at mid stick. I am building as well, and am unsure as to whether the servo arm and elevator push arm are should be parallel. Also, did your 13mm heatshrink fit over the servo connectors. It looks like you have 2 layers of heat-shrink. Just wondering if there was a larger diameter over the top.

Thanks, yes saw that one.
Just worries me that there won't be enough throw if the arm isn't at 90 degrees. Will keep surfing the forums for info. Hope you maiden soon, ...Jason |

I'm out of town this weekend. I'll be back on Sunday and I'll post some pictures of the elevator arm and the rest of the finished product. My rear servo isn't at a perfect 90 degrees, I think it is canted forward very slightly.
I've done my maiden and a few more tame flights. It is so smooth and stable. My previous bird was a Trex 500 w/ AR7200BX, and I thought that it was super stable. My 600 feels like a simulator compared to anything else I've flown (which isn't a lot, 600 is the biggest bird I've ever flown). I haven't cranked up the head speed yet, still breaking it in. The hardest I've pushed it just a few big loops and rolls. |
