I just had my 80th yesterday. Also no complaints, one bad auto with no HS (pilot error.) $58 repair bill.
Crf69, what maintenance have you done to keep it going? My experience so far has been positive with periodic oiling the motor only.

also use lithium on the bevel gears....messy but easy to clean up and helps prevent those from wearing out. i paint marked every bolt for ease of preflight inspection.

I too went over a year! 10-12 flights a week easy. Most of the time more. Eventually gave it to my son and I picked up another. Then both went in a month from each other and I was crushed... Felt like I lost a limb...
All is good now, the world can continue spinning as long as I know my X5 is happy! Maintenance wise, oiled motor, swash and tail pitch slider once a month if that. I was wiping bug guts off blades most of the time. Had to replace battery straps from wear. Oh, I did replace the crown gear once because a tooth sheared off. Awesome heli.

all i can say is i have had mine for 9 months, no issues, tipped it over on spool up one day, still not 100% sure what caused that but i only really needed to to replace servo horns. so not a big deal no real damage,
so far its been a great helicopter. i would guess around 150-200 flights now..

My first x5 airframe had 323 flights on it, two crashes, and a couple of upgrades still flew like new.
Regular Maintenance every 50 flights. When i broke the tail in a crash i rebuilt with all ABEC5 bearings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you have the 520's or 523's it will auto and can float for quite a while

Ccnada and I auto 98 percent of our flights from about 50 to 65 feet up. Ccnada inverted autos all his. It is great practice, and saved my bird 2 days ago because my esc amped out when I was running a larger motor with the castle ice 100. (motor required a 120 amp but I tried it anyways Now auto-ing in FF.. That's a completely different story and milestone I have yet to achieve or even attempt IRL. But to that affect, if you can do autos in the sim all day, I'm sure you can do it in real life with your x5 no problem. Try it.. But bring a extra pair of undies the first time you do it haha. Ps.. I run 520 revolution blades and Ccnada runs edge 523 |

Each heli is different, what I found is the sound of the blades is the same.
So depending on your setup , your sweet spot on collective for max speed up of the blades is 99% of being able to successfully auto. when you hit that point the heli floats. Castle ESC has auto bail out , I used it to learn autos , it took me a few trys to get it right. Now that I can do them, and trying them on other helis too, I think the x5 autos very easy You just need to bite the bullet one day and start trying them. They are not hard at all , well compared to other maneuvers I've been practicing. You can buddy box someone too if you know a good pilot. Once you hear the sound I'm talking about , you can't miss it

the X5 autos really nice, only done it a few times but i learned to auto on a 450, when i did it on the X5 it had all kinds of hang time, it actually had so much head speed left when i got to the ground when i pitched up it actually shot up in the air 3 or 4 feet instead of floating to the ground quickly like the 450 did..,
