I was just going by this
http://www.servocity.com/html/hitec_servos.html

so i thought it was a gyro servo along the lines of the 5083.usually a gyro servo will sacrifice torque in favor of speed.the reason I was curious was I was not sure if that was enough torque for a FBL set up.I am way out of date and all my helis still have a FB so I was asking a question not making a statement...LOL.

But using that train of thought,could/would you then use a set of 9257,s on cyclic for a 500?would make for snappy response.

I have read this thread several times and looked at the pics, are you guys saying this heli is belt drive as in a protos?what are you saying by ALL BELT DRIVE

Right. FBL models work better with servos that have more speed and torque than the typical FB model. That's why my Hitech 5056s were fine, in fact great, with the FB head. But just "OK" with a FBL setup.

I'll also take mine on 6s and hope the kit ships w/ motor and compass 360 blades.

Protos has a belt system that robs power in an auto by turning the motor. The pics here seem to show an all belt system that turns the tail independent of the motor. Should auto like a regular belt 450, or better, spinning 360s and, knowing sebastians designs, i'd imagine that belt guides would be implemented to allow the belt to be run more loosely. Also, the heli, w/ it's simplisticframe and carbon grips could conceivably be lighter than a stock Align model. This would all contribute to an efficient belt drive and a heli that would auto quite well. This is all speculation at this point.

Hmmm I might just have to get another 450 !! (I think that makes like number 8). I too would like to see the option of mounting larger servos, I found that the 65mg would eat gears in a crash with FBL heads (strange because they were unbreakable on the FB heads)

HMMMMMMMMMMMM am I crazy or is the headblock just a tail hub off a bigger heli ? Is so that would mean a hard mount like the Gaui ?

Like Alan said ... SLACKER!

We'll have to help get that thing back up to snuff sometime soon! I can't tell you how many times I've referred people to it.

In short, I like it, and definitely a class size that is appealing to newer pilots, moving them away from the "bandwagon" brand(s).

Not sure how I feel about the tail fin or the landing gear yet, I'll reserve my opinion once I've seen the completed drawings w/canopy, but in general, BRAVO!!!

I'll wait for initial reports but I'm really happy with this addition to the family.
Hopefully it will be of a decent build quality, I've long lamented the lack of a good 450 on the market. They all seem to have a large amount of issues and compromises
450s are vibe machines and I hope that Compass do everything they can to reduce this.
I too would love to see the option for larger servos. .
I'll take mine on 4S with a mini Vbar thanks and I dig the lack of boom supports.

Simply not true, the Protos has the OWB inside the pinion.

Here is a perfect sideview.
In the first moment, I don't love the fin to, but after seeing it a view times I totally fall in love with that.

You can see the tailrotor is lifted out of the gras.

Not so keen on the CF blade grips myself.
What diameter boom will it be?

I like the design.
Maybe this will be the replacement of my good old 450.
