Futaba 8FG Charger Port Now Not Working

I have been charging my 8FG through the charger port for about 4 years now with no problems, it has now stopped working, have been using the original socket which I connected a couple off banana plugs to end of lead and running off my field chargers.
Radio still working ok, when plug in charger I get the message, no connection, obviously something has broken inside, have not taken the back off yet, thought some one may have had a similar experience.

Is there a chance that your banana plugs contacted each other? If so, I'd imagine you burned something up in the radio, hopefully there's just a fuse somewhere inside that you can just replace. A safer option for charging your radio from a field charger is to pull the pack out and charge through the pack connector, that way if something goes wrong with the charge, you aren't risking smoking the radio.
