Default Been awhile

It's been awhile since I posted, but spring has finally hit this state and I was able to take my K4 out today for the first time in... over a year (wow... that was a lot longer than I thought it was).

Any how my first attempts at take off made things a little hairy. The copter kept trying to yaw left hard. I would spool up and as soon as I was clear of the grass it would spin like a top. Well I said to my self "Self, that's not right. Maybe one of your biases is off." So I cranked the bias and attempted to take off again. Same thing happened. Well "Crap." I moozey on over to the bird and see if there's anything going on that I should be aware of.

All the parts check out and I hear the motor and see the Gyro kick on when I synch to the transmitter. By this time I had attempted to take off 2-3 more times with the same effect and so I needed to reset the orientation of the copter to make my life a little bit easier. That's when I noticed that the tail rotor wasn't adjusting when I moved the bird around. "Eureka" Says I. I then begin to fiddle with the transmitter and notice that my 5th channel knob is cranked all the way down. So I start fiddling with it. Adjusting it piece by piece.

After about 10 minutes of my adjustments I throttle up and the bird spins the other way. I quickly throttle down and am able to keep the bird from destructing itself. In my flabbergasted state I stare at my transmitter and realize that I have left my yaw bias cranked the other way.

I fix that up and I get in the air and fly my battery out. I need a lot of practice, but at least I am getting airborne now. My landings are really rough though--thank goodness for ping-pong balls.

Hi BMP
I know the feeling I haven't had my birds airborn for over a year, here over the big pond it has been a year of nothing but rain and strong winds and work, there just dosen't seem to be enough hours in the day but I think once it is in the blood it is always there and you always want to get out and fly.
