What to lube, or what Not to lube ?
These Micro birds are new to me. My other birds, larger, have a grease and oil maintenance program. What is recommended to keep these little ones flying the best they can.

The big maintenance chore is a squirt of Deoxit in each servo every few flights. I put a drop of oil in the upper and lower bearings occasionally. The stock tail rotor can be bent in a crash, the Lynx as well. Kbdd tail rotors are much stronger. The hollow main shaft and tail boom will split or break easily. Get solid CF equivalents and you'll be better off. Oops, I've left maintenance and gone to upgrades. Sorry.

No lube. When bearing get bad after hundreds of flights, just replace them. Clean the servos once in awhile.

Running my mCPX BL with no lube, no loctite. Just clean it & tighten all the screws on a regular basis.

Would there be any benefit to putting a dab of high temp bearing grease ( red ) on the main drive gear ?. I know it helps a lot on the big birds.

Properly clean the servos with Deoxit every 30 flights by taking them apart. Scorpion motor oil on bearings every 20 flights. Just spraying Deoxit in the servos makes a mess and attracts debris.

That's way too much work for me! I don't do anything to mine until I crash.

I've only ever needed to service the servos after 1-200 flights. I don't do any other regular maintenance. The BL doesn't need servicing like a big heli, just treat it like a toy and fly it until it breaks.

What exactly do you do when you service one of your linear servos? Do you use deoxit? No chems? A toothbrush? Do you disassemble it or leave it whole?

You don't need to tear down the servos if you use deoxit. Just squirt on, operate the servo and then wipe. Some never have to service their servos some do on the first flight. I never do it unless one begins to get sluggish or flutters. A couple squirts of deoxit fixes it every time.
I put a dab of oil in the bearings now and again if they get dry. I also oil the bearings in both motors by judiciously squirting a small amount onto the shaft on top and bottom of both motors. It does wonders for the power output and smoothness of both motors and requires it more frequently than the hearings. Do you have to do it? Nope. Can you? Will it help? Yes I think on both counts.

Oh and I think grease is too thick and would fling off creating problems.

Been there and done that with the grease thing. Did it on my old CX2 and the SR. The CX2 is long gone since the last flight and "Fire" after it crashed into a tree, but I still have the SR. I will dig it out next spring after I have put a lot of hours on the BL and the Nano.

Imz, two good posts. The Nano is down this weekend waiting for CNC parts. Ordered the cnc swash for the cpx bl, cause I broke another ball on the swash by the AR bar. Also had to get a new canopy, not many places left with-out glue.
