Beginner video

i found this video on youtube but i have no idea what he is saying. I have the same motor i would like to try and do the same thing too. looks like a good guide to follow? not sure what diagram he is using his camera is slightly off. can anyone comment on whether is using the right technique or even winding it correctly?

I've watched the video to learn.
It's an nice Basic video, but i think he made some misstakes:
1. there is no insulation paper or coating, just naked stator and wires
2. the stator may get damaged if you clamp it this way
3. insulation measuring is done with resistance meter (only an basic check)

he describes his way of winding and using his techniques, but i think he is a beginner too.

so watch it, read some forums& Dr. Okons website and try your own motorwinding. that's the best way to learn it. if you make misstakes: it doesn't matter because learning from misstakes is efficient

yea i have the same (cheap) motor so i wanted to try the same thing ive been reading alot and its alot to take in.

can you tell me what size wire is he using? and also it looks like he is doing 5+6 wires ? but what is it called D? Y? YY" does he say what KV it is going to make?

What would be the best wiring scheme for this motor? can someone post the diagram that would be best?

i would want to stay around same kv 1100 its 8 pole 10Turns stock

Started on disassembly but a small piece of the coating came off of the stator you can see it in the picture. How do I fix it ca? Other thing I ran into is that it has double bearings in the housing and destroyed them trying to take them out Edit: got them out. The outer race is still in the housing how can I take it out freeze it or heat it up?

Just need to know how to fix the coating?

This video has been posted here in the past.
You will find once you start doing the actually winding having the stator clamped down is extremely limiting.

Holding in your hand is much easier and better control.

For fixing coating defects I usually use electrical varnish and/or 30 min. epoxy.

Didn't go with any yet , it's between .15 and .10 I think brocot stuff is .14 so is thinner or thicker better? .01 isn't going to make that much difference in.15 right?

Correct.
I have the Brocott nomex with 0.14 mm and it works pretty well for me.
The pieces, which come in the Scorpion kits, feel stiffer, but they are also 0.14 mm.

Wouldn't go thinner, especially with thick wire. . .

is that the same as what brocot has looks like it kind of? just trying to find things here in the US.

Hey looks like they have them as thin as .05 mm and 11 thickness but its Nomex Type 410.
Based on specs seems to be adequate.

How they differ between 410 and 411 don't know.

Generally I've used Brocott Nomex which I believe the thinness they sell is
0.14 mm

I like the thin one's.

Now you have no excuse to push for 1.8 mm to 2.0 mm copper

The insulation properties are very good also with the thin one, but I am thinking about the physical resistance, when we bend those wires around the stator.
The 0.1 or smaller might be not tough enough. . .

I've been looking something comparable in North America but no luck.
wowowee, they have nice colors not just black.
1 to 4 mm O.D. if they have would work just fine.

Only question do they except small orders or is there a minimum amount.

regarding Nomex thickness being to thin.
well maybe they can ship samples to test out.
besides it says there are 11 thickness starting from .05 mm.
Better then ordering from the UK --- shipping cost

Brocott 0.14 mm has work perfectly so you can always stick with those numbers and order close by.

too bad its not a one stop shop for your orders.

Minimum order is $35. for one spool of 250' it's $50 or so though don't think ill ever use 250' of it though. Shipping is $10 to ny from Washington where they are. It says if you call them and it's less than $35 they can charge only $7 processing fee.
